Overview
Consumer Benefits Specialist – Regional role at Bluebonnet Trails Community Services. Provides consumers with assistance in determining eligibility for, access to, and maintenance of Medicaid benefits and entitlements. Works with consumers on SSI/SSDI applications and follow-up, including referrals to vendors for benefits, initial applications, administrative law judge hearings, claims, and appeals. Responsibilities
Assist consumers with determining eligibility for Medicaid programs and related entitlements. Support SSI/SSDI program application processes and follow-up, including referrals for benefits and related services. Provide community referrals and representation during administrative hearings in court settings when applicable. Assist with benefit renewals and maintenance of eligibility for Medicaid programs (e.g., QMB, MQMB) and various Medicaid waivers. Make social service referrals based on consumer needs (e.g., food stamps, TANF, Medicare prescription extra help). Serve as presenter or designee on benefits training across programs and departments. Operate in a regional capacity supporting multiple locations and coordinate with referral vendors as the primary contact. Location & Compensation
Locations: Seguin, Gonzales, and Lockhart, TX. Hourly Salary Range: $21.46 – $26.21 per hour. Differential Details
Up to $2.00/hour – previous experience with a community center in a similar role $1.00/hour – Career ladder specialty $0.75/hour – Bilingual $1.00/hour – Tenure with BTCS Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field; if degree is not in Human Services, a minimum of 24 credits in a human services field. Experience may substitute for a Bachelor's degree. Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security applications. Experience working with persons with disabilities in a healthcare or rehab setting. Strong computer and communication skills; ability to work as part of a team to support benefits needs. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and maintain approved driver’s status throughout employment. Job Details
