A Glimpse of the Job Mays Business School at Texas A&M University is seeking a detail-oriented and dynamic Communications Specialist I to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to develop and execute strategic communications that support the school’s mission and initiatives. In this role, you’ll have opportunities to work on drafting targeted messaging, managing multiple concurrent projects, coordinating with colleagues to meet deadlines, and identifying opportunities for process improvement. The ideal candidate is a lifelong learner who demonstrates strong interpersonal and organizational skills, communicates clearly and effectively, and brings enthusiasm and fresh ideas to a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Opportunities to Contribute Project/Brand Management

Assist with marketing and communication requests

for undergraduate programs, centers, and institutes within Mays Business School.

Evolve and maintain brand strategies

for each program under the direction of the Brand Coordinator. Act as liaison and point of contact for assigned units, proactively understanding upcoming events and initiatives.

Work on requests

to assess needs, create a plan, communicate with relevant internal and external team members, assign internal resources, communicate updates and changes, manage process workflows, meet deadlines, and evaluate project success post-launch. (Projects include but are not limited to creating and updating program promotional materials, facilitating swag and merchandise design, building semesterly email newsletters, assisting with website content rewrites and photo asset refreshes, and event/competition communications and support.)

Operate and understand

the Mays Business School project management platform. Coordinate photo and video shoot logistics when needed for Mays MarComm initiatives related to assigned units.

Digital Communications Management

Assist with email campaigns

in various email marketing platforms, website copy rewrites, and content planning for unit-specific social media accounts.

Track and assess

campaign performance.

Writing

Write and edit copy

for storytelling pieces, brand strategies, social media posts, email campaigns, newsletters, website copy, and promotional deliverables for undergraduate programs, centers, and institutes' initiatives within Mays Business School.

Learning/Researching

Become an expert

on undergraduate programs, centers, and institutes, understanding unit details and differentiators.

Research best practices

to help maintain efficiencies. Keep abreast of industry advancements and learning opportunities.

Qualifications Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field.

No prior experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to communicate ideas and concepts clearly and effectively. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with internal team members and external stakeholders.

Ability to effectively plan and execute short and long-term projects that make efficient use of resources, meet deadlines, achieve objectives, and maintain morale among staff through the process.

Ability to balance multiple, simultaneous priorities while meeting deadlines.

High attention to detail. Ability to anticipate needs and proactively identify improvements and resolve errors across related deliverables.

Strong initiative, commitment to lifelong learning, and willingness to ask questions.

Ability to bring fresh ideas, individual voice, and enthusiasm to the team.

Exceptional time management skills.

Ability to work as a motivated self-starter.

Preferred Qualifications

Recent Texas A&M University graduate.

0-2 years of experience working as a communications coordinator, communications specialist, project manager, or similar role on a marketing team.

Proven ability to work in email marketing, promotional materials, writing, social media management, web content management, and brand management.

Strong project management skills with demonstrated experience across a broad array of marketing channels.

Experience working within project management software (ClickUp, Monday, MS Project, Teamwork, Trello, etc.)

Experience with email marketing platforms (MailChimp, Emma, HubSpot, Maestro, etc.)

High standard of excellence and experience working within the confines of a brand guide.

Experience writing in AP Style.
