Press Assistant II (Rolltender)
The Press Assistant II or Rolltender is a skilled and detail‑oriented role in our Pressroom department. The Press Assistant II (Rolltender) will play a crucial role in the efficient operation of our printing press by ensuring the continuous supply and proper alignment of paper rolls. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring press operations, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining a smooth workflow. Attention to detail, technical proficiency, and a commitment to safety are essential for this role.
This entry‑level opportunity is paid at $17.00 hourly with regularly scheduled increases to $22.20.
What You’ll Do
Material Handling: Load/unload paper rolls, monitor/replenish supplies, and inspect rolls for defects.
Press Operation Support: Assist with press setup, monitor operations for quality output, and troubleshoot minor issues.
Quality Control: Conduct visual inspections and collaborate with the quality control team to address print quality issues.
Maintenance & Cleaning: Perform routine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Communication: Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate workflow and address issues.
What You’ll Need
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in printing or related field is a plus.
Proven experience as a Press Roll Tender or similar role in a printing environment.
Knowledge of printing press operations, paper handling, and basic troubleshooting.
Ability to lift and carry heavy rolls of paper and work in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of press machinery.
Adherence to safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
Physical Demands Standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, squatting, stooping, crouching, crawling, twisting, bending, reaching and occasional sitting. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must not have a fear of heights or small spaces. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment The employee works in a production environment. Additionally, the incumbent will work near moving mechanical parts and in high places. He/She will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. There is frequent noise in the work environment.
