HR Assistant The HR Assistant provides complex administrative, project, and day‑to‑day functional support to the Human Resources Department at the plant, including HRIS, record‑keeping, recruiting, benefit administration, and employee relations.

This hourly position reports to the Human Resources Manager and supports a 24/7 manufacturing environment with an hourly rate of $23‑$27 based on skill and experience.

Responsibilities Recruiting and Staffing

Assists HR Manager with staffing level planning and employment advertisement development.

Schedules and participates in on‑site panel interviews.

Coordinates new‑hire processes: physicals, background checks, reference checks.

Facilitates employee orientation and onboarding for non‑exempt employees.

Maintains online application system and quarterly reporting.

Manages internal job transfer posting and selection process.

Employee Relations

Leads Employee Engagement Teams for social, networking, and technical opportunities.

Supports investigations and employee complaints with the HR Manager.

Oversees employee recognition programs such as Company Picnic, Christmas party, Employee of the Month/Quarter, and Leadership Dinner.

Champions the Total Wellbeing Program, leading team activities and budget management.

Recommends improvements to HR support processes.

Coordinates the Partners in Progress newsletter articles.

Provides day‑to‑day benefits administration and claim issue resolution.

Facilitates benefits orientations and other benefits training.

Conducts annual benefits open enrollment.

Assists with leave management, documentation, and monitoring.

Administers the Educational Reimbursement program.

Assists with medical management, reasonable accommodation assessments, and workers’ compensation.

Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)

Maintains HRIS input and serves as subject matter expert for SAP, Employee Central, Kronos, and other HR technology.

Liaison and trainer for employee technology questions.

Prepares, analyzes, and distributes required reports.

Recordkeeping and Reporting

Confidentially coordinates and files HR records and employee files.

Maintains attendance policy records and corrective actions.

Manages performance management process for non‑exempt employees.

HR and Safety Administrative Support

Vendor management for uniforms, vending machines, etc.

Provides administrative support: meeting minutes, incident reports.

Runs errands and coordinates meals for HR and Safety departments.

Orders office supplies.

Maintains plant communication: bulletin boards, breakroom announcements, and plant newsletter.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

High School Diploma or GED with minimum 5 years relevant HR experience, or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field with HR work experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Familiar with industrial operations, preferably dairy or food manufacturing.

Sound knowledge of HR fundamentals and best practices in manufacturing.

Willingness to relocate with geographic flexibility.
