Supplemental Instruction (SI) Peer Facilitator (Dahlonega) – Institutional Student Worker
University of North Georgia – Dahlonega campus. This is a part‑time, temporary student‑worker position available to undergraduate students enrolled in UNG.
Job Summary
We are accepting applications for Supplemental Instruction (SI) Peer Facilitators. SI provides peer‑assisted study sessions that help students learn, grow, and succeed academically. SI facilitators guide students through collaborative activities and active‑learning strategies in order to improve understanding and raise average grades.
Responsibilities
Lead SI sessions twice a week using collaborative activities and active learning strategies.
Hold office hours.
Attend lectures with students to review course content, take notes, promote SI, and serve as a model of good student behavior.
Plan SI sessions: create agendas, prepare worksheets and other resources; conduct staff development, including orientation training, bi‑weekly meetings, observation of peer sessions, and meetings with supervisor and mentors.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Good interpersonal communication skills.
Undergraduate students must have proven competency in the target content area.
Required Qualifications
Enrollment at UNG with a minimum of six credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.
Completed targeted courses at UNG with a B or better.
Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications may still be considered.
Students must have earned an A or B in at least one of the following courses: ACCT 2101, BIOL 1107K, BIOL 2120K, CHEM 1211, CHEM 1212, ENGL 1101, ENGL 1102, HIST 2111, HIST 2112, MATH 1111, MATH 1113, MATH 1450, MATH 2040, POLS 2401, PSYC 1101.
