There are important pre‑screener questions in the application - to be considered all questions must be answered fully.
Heart of the Role This is a rare opportunity to step into a true hybrid position, where both the culinary and personal assistant responsibilities are equally essential in contributing to the smooth functioning of a warm, well‑run household.
You’ll wear two hats—Private Chef and Personal Assistant—and both require the same care, attention to detail, and thoughtfulness. Whether you’re planning a nourishing family dinner, managing a home improvement project, coordinating travel, or setting the tone for a birthday celebration, your work will be deeply appreciated and impactful.
The family is kind, respectful, and deeply values long‑term relationships. Many team members have been with them for over a decade—a reflection of the trust, loyalty, and mutual respect that define this home.
If you find joy in being of service, take pride in anticipating needs, and thrive in a role that blends creativity, variety, and strategic thinking, this could be your long‑term home.
Dual Role Summary This is an integrated, full‑time position that blends culinary skill and personal and household coordination. You'll be responsible for:
Preparing delicious, healthy meals for the family and their guests
Supporting daily household operations and logistics
Managing events, travel, and special projects
Proactively solving problems and creating calm in a dynamic environment
Private Chef Responsibilities
Prepare healthy, seasonal dinners for the family each evening (with leftovers for lunch the next day)
Maintain a rotation of ready‑made breakfasts (quiches, overnight oats, frittatas, etc.)
Plan menus with creativity and nutritional awareness, emphasizing proteins and vegetables
Manage shopping, kitchen inventory, and cleanliness
Cook for occasional gatherings (4–8 guests), typically monthly during the year and bi‑weekly in summer
Support extended family visits (typically two weeks per year)
Personal Assistant Responsibilities
Event Planning and Logistics: Coordinate dinners, birthdays, holidays, and special celebrations
Household Oversight: Liaise with vendors, manage home and office projects, and ensure everything runs smoothly
Travel Coordination: Assist with trip planning and accompany the family on select trips
Organization and Efficiency: Keep household and office environments stocked, tidy, and streamlined
Act as a point of contact and decision‑maker when needed, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks
Additional duties as needed
Experience and Qualifications The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in both culinary arts and personal or household support, ideally with experience in private homes or high‑standard, fast‑paced environments.
However, we recognize that exceptional candidates don’t always follow a traditional path. We are open to applicants who may have fewer years of direct experience but demonstrate:
A naturally service‑oriented mindset
High levels of professionalism, discretion, and emotional intelligence
Strong initiative and an ownership mentality
A calm, thoughtful, and proactive approach to supporting others
Ideal Candidate You are:
Equally skilled in the kitchen and in coordination—you don’t see these as separate roles, but as parts of a bigger mission to support a well‑functioning, joyful home
Discreet, organized, and proactive—you see what’s needed before others do and take ownership of results
Detail‑driven and calm under pressure—you make complex situations look effortless
Warm, loyal, and kind—you bring care to both your work and your relationships
Looking for a long‑term opportunity with room to grow and deepen your contributions over time
Schedule and Flexibility Monday–Friday, with occasional evenings/weekends for events or travel
Alternate rest days provided when working outside core hours
3 weeks Paid Time Off (vacation and sick time), with one week ideally aligned with a family holiday period
Increased seasonal activity during summer and travel periods (e.g., Hamptons)
What Makes This Role Special Equal balance of Chef and PA duties—both are core to the role and equally valued
A home where people stay—team members often remain for 10+ years
A role with variety and growth—every day is different, and responsibilities can evolve over time
A kind, loyal family—who respect boundaries and value their team’s well‑being
