Position Overview KU’s Wingspan Center for Learning and Writing Support offers a portfolio of academic support programs. The Peer Academic Coaching Program provides individual and group coaching, supplemental instruction, tutoring, and writing center services to strengthen students’ academic skills and written communication.

The Peer Academic Coach will offer in‑person and online coaching appointments, facilitate small‑group accountability sessions, and connect students to campus resources.

Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct in‑person and virtual coaching appointments to develop study habits, time management, reading, and academic self‑beliefs.

Connect students to campus resources.

Attend regular peer‑coaching training, team meetings, and professional development sessions.

Create a safe peer‑coaching environment.

Facilitate small‑group accountability sessions (body doubling).

Support students preparing for exams or projects with study skill strategies.

Engage in outreach activities such as tabling, emailing, calling, and flyer creation during down times.

Provide embedded in‑class support for first‑year seminar and partner classes as availability allows.

Facilitate workshops or presentations on time management, learning strategies, and related topics.

Perform other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

University of Kansas student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.

Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and good academic standing.

Undergraduate status (non‑graduate).

Preferred Qualifications

Coaching or mentoring experience.

Demonstrated empathy, responsibility, positive attitude, confidence, flexibility, team orientation, strong communication skills, and high energy.

Desire to learn, grow, and foster community among peers.

Organized and able to model peer leadership.

Team player capable of working individually and in group projects in a respectful manner.

Position Requirements During each semester, the student‑hourly applicant must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer, the student must have been enrolled in at least 6 hours during the prior spring or be pre‑enrolled for the upcoming fall semester, or be enrolled in a summer session or admitted to fall. Undergraduate or graduate students may apply; GRA/GTA/GA appointments are excluded.

Employment Conditions and Compensation Hourly pay: $12.00 per hour.

Start date: Monday, January 5, 2026.
