Your Mission
Process multi-state payroll with 100% accuracy—weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly cycles across multiple jurisdictions.
Calculate wages, overtime, deductions, garnishments, and 401(k) contributions with process-oriented precision.
Maintain confidential payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve employee inquiries with diplomacy and speed.
Manage timekeeping systems, audit entries, and import data into payroll software.
Prepare and file quarterly/annual payroll tax reports (941s, state withholdings, W-2s, etc.).
Administer 401(k) enrollments, contributions, loans, and compliance testing (including nondiscrimination).
Jump into ad-hoc payroll projects and make decisions on the fly during tight deadlines.
Take on any extra missions thrown your way with enthusiasm and initiative!
What Makes You a Superstar (must-haves)
Multi-state payroll experience – you’ve handled payroll across state lines like a champ.
5 years or experienced in accounting – deep financial know-how is your foundation.
2 years of payroll experience – you’ve processed payroll end-to-end, no hand-holding needed.
Process oriented – you live for checklists, SOPs, and flawless execution.
Self-starter – you spot issues, fix them, and improve systems without being told.
Decisions on the fly – you thrive under pressure and make smart calls fast.
Knowledge in 401(k) – you understand contributions, vesting, compliance, and reporting inside out.
Bonus Points
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Experience with QuickBooks Payroll, ADP, Paychex, or Acumatica
CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC certification
Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data validation)
Physical Powers Needed
Be a desk dynamo, comfortably stationed for at least 60% of the time.
Zip around the office to grab files, use machinery, or chat with teammates.
Work those fingers on computers, copiers, and printers like a tech gymnast.
Keep your ears sharp for phone calls and in-person chats, and speak clearly to share the payroll love.
Read screens, memos, and emails with laser focus.
Occasionally lift or move objects up to 10 lbs (light file boxes).
