Police Dispatch and Records Assistant (40 hrs/wk 260 Days)
A vital member of the Washoe County School District Police Department, the Records/Dispatch Assistant ensures the efficiency and accuracy of police records and dispatch operations. Working under the supervision of the Communications and Records Manager, this assistant upholds compliance with departmental policies, federal and state regulations, and public safety standards while handling sensitive information confidentially and providing clerical support to dispatch and records personnel to enhance school community safety. The position requires regular attendance and the ability to multitask, aligning with the department’s dedication to safety, equity, and operational excellence.
Processes trespass warnings with precise documentation for enforcing restricted access to school premises.
Manages Sexual Offender Notifications by collecting, verifying, and distributing vital safety information to staff and authorities.
Assists with citation functions through Brazos system entries to support traffic and behavioral enforcement.
Contributes to National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) tasks by compiling and submitting accurate crime data as required by law.
Handles warrant processing to ensure timely law enforcement action.
Updates Alliance (CAD) information—including employee details, beats, locations, and call types—to maintain a reliable Computer-Aided Dispatch system.
Coordinates the scheduling of officer training sessions to ensure compliance with certification requirements.
Assists in preparing statistical reports for departmental performance reviews.
Supports the processing of background checks for new hires to maintain personnel integrity.
Manages the logging and retrieval of evidence for investigations.
Facilitates the distribution of emergency communication alerts to school staff during incidents.
Assists in maintaining the department's fleet maintenance logs to ensure operational readiness.
Performs police dispatching by receiving and relaying emergency calls, coordinating officer responses, and maintaining accurate call logs.
