Compensation Overview The annual base salary range for this position is a nationwide market range representing a broad range of salaries across the country. The actual salary will be determined by factors such as scope, complexity, location, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, and other employment conditions. Employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range $104,000.00 – $171,700.00

What Is the Opportunity? Reports to Technical Director or AVP under general supervision. Responsible for technical discipline in the region and delivers specialty services as assigned. Provides technical training to Risk Control generalists and works with national or multi-regional customers. Specialties may include Customer Training, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Construction, Transportation Safety, Workers Compensation Cost Containment, Liability, and Product Safety.

What Will You Do?

Maintain a consistent field presence, spending 20%‑50% of time onsite with customers, including long‑distance, overnight travel as needed.

Deliver specialist‑level service in area of technical expertise (risk evaluation, management consulting, strategy development, training) to meet underwriting or customer needs.

Serve as a technical resource to Risk Control field organizations and internal business partners.

Collaborate in technical development of Risk Control staff in partnership with field management on areas of expertise; conduct co‑surveys and perform quality assessments of field staff work.

Consult with clients and business partners on hazard control to reduce or prevent losses.

Apply collaborative consulting concepts to help clients develop ongoing safety improvement programs.

Document findings and recommendations; influence clients to implement recommendations.

Maintain current knowledge of regulatory environment and emerging issues in the specialty.

Maintain timely, relevant communications with Technical Unit Manager, Regional Managers and Risk Control staff.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Required High School/GED

Additional Qualifications / Ideal Candidate

Bachelor's degree in related field; CIH designation preferred.

Prior role that included technical training or mentoring within Industrial Hygiene.

Relevant consulting or industry experience considered.

Business Knowledge

Understanding of Commercial Lines insurance products, services, and risk selection practices preferred.

Willingness to meet and understand Risk Control performance standards, policies, and procedures.

Technical Expertise

Demonstrated expertise and command in specialty; maintain up‑to‑date knowledge.

Ability to translate complex technical information into clear recommendations for varied audiences.

Acquisition of working knowledge of relevant Risk Control computer system applications.

Maintenance of relevant professional designation.

Customer Service

Balance customer expectations and expense constraints.

Build credibility with internal and external customers.

Create customer satisfaction by demonstrating the value of Risk Control services.

Strong written communication skills.

Resource Management

Continuously assess workload in light of business priorities; direct own efforts.

Influence others to take action on recommendations.

As needed for discipline.

Must Have

Five years of experience in a risk control specialty, including Industrial Hygiene, Inland Marine, Boiler & Machinery, Property, or Construction.

Valid driver's license.

Must have or be able to attain appropriate certification to meet state‑specific requirements, where applicable.
