Inclusive Excellence Statement Advertised Job Summary Under minimal supervision, this position serves as the Assistant to the Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Administrative Manager for faculty, and the Executive Assistant to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Industrial Advisory Board. This position is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and performing the department’s faculty and staff day-to-day activities, such as the departmental seminar program, faculty and staff committee meetings, faculty and staff searches, development, special events, and serving as a proxy for faculty, staff, and student travel. Minimum Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 2 years related experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services; or equivalency. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Thorough knowledge of or ability to learn university policies and procedures and be able to handle constant interruptions and changes. Ability to coordinate diverse administrative functions and be up-to-date with office practices, procedures, and equipment. Ability to train, plan, organize, and supervise the work of subordinates. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with a variety of people and to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to meet high pressure demands and deadlines, prioritize assignments and work independently. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, IMS, Millennium, Financial Edge.
