To effectively work with and monitor behavior of students at-risk of academic failure or dropping out of school. Qualifications: Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED Qualifies for appropriate state paraprofessional certification Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of behavior and social skill intervention techniques and methodology Able to work with students with significant behavioral needs Trained in CPI or other crisis intervention program Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Able to maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to multi-task complex administrative activities Experience: Experience working with behavior and social skill intervention techniques preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties: One of the primary purposes of this position is to assist in carrying out the district’s goal of improving student achievement by providing assistance to students who are at-risk of academic failure or dropping out of school and/or staff who work with students at-risk of academic failure or dropping out of school. Program Support Assist in carrying out the district’s goal of improving student achievement by providing assistance to students who are at-risk of academic failure or dropping out of school and/or staff who work with these students. Work closely with administrators, teachers and the counselor to create and monitor student behavior contracts. Work closely with teachers to develop behavior interaction plans for students. Monitor student behavior in the building and in SAC. Maintain SAC/discipline folder for all students placed in SAC. Maintain file of student work completed in SAC. Enter data in the computer concerning discipline actions. Observe students in the classroom and monitor the progress of students that have been assigned to SAC. Assist with the arrival and dismissal of students. Other Maintain confidentiality. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief. Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Instructional Paraprofessional Personnel. Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds) Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; possible district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress This document describes the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required. Federal Funded positions: The hourly rates listed above are subject to change depending on the funding allocated for the specific job you may be hired for. The funding for this position is federally funded for the current school year. Continuation of the position is contingent upon the availability of future funds. Calendar Days: 145 (4 hrs. per day) Certified Teachers - $30 per hour Non-Certified/Degreed - $25 per hour High School Diploma/GED Equivalent - $15 per hour Retiree rate may differ Internal employees:
