Area Supervisor, 2nd Shift - Harlan Conductix-Wampfler is a progressive, growing manufacturer of mobile electrification products (festoon, slip ring, motor driven cable reels, cord and hose reel systems). 2nd Shift Area Supervisor .

The candidate will perform department-related production scheduling, inventory management, new/existing personnel training, interview and hire, work with all departments to resolve product and quality problems, work with engineering to coordinate change orders, perform department quality activities, ensure safety compliance, and work directly with sales and vendors on quality issues. The Area Supervisor will strive to continuously improve business systems.

Qualifications

Experience in an ISO-certified quality environment

Supervision experience required

Safety compliance and knowledge of OSHA 10 or 30 is a plus

Experience creating written procedures and instructions

Ability to actively resolve customer product issues

Production and inventory scheduling

SAP experience is a plus

A.S. in Industrial Technology preferred but not required

Working knowledge of MS-Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) required

Hours 2nd Shift Hours: Monday-Thursday 2:00 pm – 12:00 am

Summary Supervises and coordinates activities of manufacturing workers to safely and efficiently build and ship quality products to satisfy all customers. Performs responsibilities and duties as assigned by the CoE General/Plant Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Inspires trust and respect in the workplace

Takes responsibility for subordinates’ work activities

Supervise, manage, and support quality procedures and practices including quality production inspection documentation, entry and approval of engineering deviations, and training and leading associates on Conductix ISO programs

Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow

Strong understanding of SAP

Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances

Creates and follows safety rules and ensures subordinates follow them

Performs or assists subordinates in performing duties as needed

Fosters continuous improvement of processes, controls, production, and labor to satisfy customers

Works with MRP Controllers to create schedule timelines and departmental workloads to meet sales order shipment dates

Develops a process plan including people, resources, equipment, and floor space for each customer order

Plans flow of materials through the plant and develops plant layout for efficient, profitable, on-schedule work

Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules

Implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality

Optimizes working conditions and equipment use to improve safety and efficiency

Coordinates manpower requirements and overtime to meet changing schedule and demand

Analyzes and resolves work problems

Checks input accuracy to ensure final product meets quality guidelines

Communicates changes to ensure future output aligns with customer expectations

Initiates and sustains 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and other improvement programs

Drives cross-training to support workforce versatility

Responsible for Monthly Department Safety Inspections

Maintains 5S within the department

Upholds Quality and EHS policy and company core values

Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

May manage/supervise 0-20 employees

Oversees direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned areas within the CoE

Qualifications (Education and/or Experience) Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language, Mathematical, and Reasoning Skills Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups. Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions. Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Employee must be willing and able to pass our in-house forklift and overhead crane certification prior to operating these machines. Certification is required to operate these machines in our facility. Training will be provided.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Visual requirements include close, distance, color, depth perception, and focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts; occasional exposure to high places, fumes, weather, electrical shock, and vibration.
