Construction Field Supervisor – Distribution Job Details
Role involves field inspection and supervision during the construction of Distribution lines, including final commissioning and closeout. The specific activities and the supervisor’s responsibilities vary by project lifecycle. Key Expectations
Customer shall provide the procedures, process and governance for the assigned scope of work; however, day-to-day direction of activities for the scope of work shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. Contractor shall be responsible for the safe and efficient oversight and execution of construction activities related to the project. Contractor shall monitor and provide weekly reporting to Customer as it pertains to the construction of the project. Key Responsibilities
Provide expertise to the Customer’s project team for development of project scope, detailed construction plans, project cost estimates, project schedules and identification of outage requirements (outages, exact work dates, and resource requirements) for new facilities. Participate in daily tailboards, safety briefings, and on-site field visits. Coordinate switching plans with the Construction Engineer and coordinate with surveying and soil boring crews. Coordinate delivery of matting, vac trucks, and traffic control teams when necessary. Ensure all necessary permits from ROW and/or Environmental groups are in place prior to start of construction. Ensure SWMPP is installed and maintained as designed. Coordinate with PM/CE to ensure materials needed for construction are kitted and delivered to site. Compile all As-built documents, Distribution Change Order forms, timesheet approvals, and coordinate the WO Field completion process. Work with Customer’s construction engineer or assigned representative on any deficiencies or discrepancies. Ensure Safety-Tailboards, JHAs and applicable reviews are conducted with documented dates and attendees. Perform observations/hazard analyses and monitor contractor compliance with safety and operational requirements. Monitor contractor skills and abilities, public exposure, and perform accident/incident reporting. Participate in design constructability reviews. Ensure contractors comply with Customer safety training and procedures (safety manual procedures, De-Energized Work Plan, Energized Work Plan). Conduct Pre-Construction/Safety Kickoff meetings to outline expectations for all contractors on site. Conduct safety stand-downs as needed after safety concerns or issues are observed. Ensure material returns and credits are in line with the Material Return Process; coordinate salvage of conductor per Investment Recovery Process. Communicate safe work expectations according to OSHA and Customer regulations; follow governance processes. Conduct onsite audits for adherence to Customer’s Power Safe requirements. Ensure contractor activities do not compromise system reliability and that quality is achieved in the field. Perform quality assurance checks during construction and monitor schedule versus in-service dates. Identify and address all project safety and environmental hazards and concerns. Conduct Coaching Cards as established by Construction Manager. Qualifications
Must be eligible to work in the United States. Valid driver’s license required. High School Diploma or GED required. 3+ years of experience in transmission, substation or distribution line work (level based on experience). Familiarity with OSHA Standard 1926, Subpart V (Power Transmission and Distribution). Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint). Proficiency in T&D standards and safe operation of line equipment. Experience working in group settings and with governmental agencies. Ability to interface effectively with internal and external clients at all levels; ability to prioritize and adapt to a fast-paced environment. Willingness to travel extensively and maintain a continuous presence on assignments. Physical ability for outdoor work and to wear all required PPE. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and pass background, MVR, and drug screening checks. Seniorities & Employment
