The School of Data Science at the University of Virginia is seeking a Graduate Program Manager who will support School of Data Science Ph.D. students to meet their personal and professional goals. As a member of the dynamic academic operations team, this position primarily serves Data Science Ph.D. students, but works closely with all staff, faculty program directors, teaching faculty, and the academic operations team. About the Position

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following key job functions: Academic Advising

- You will serve as the frontline contact for Ph.D. students and faculty. This includes advising students on enrollment requirements and tracking academic progress for programmatic milestones such as qualifying exams, defenses, and graduation. Academic Program Management

- This role will provide administrative coordination of an academic program and works closely with the faculty Ph.D. Program Director. Instructional Support

- Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of instructional support for every Data Science course across all programs. Student Programming and Event Planning

- You will plan and implement program-specific academic and co-curricular events. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of academic advising or related academic functions within higher education. Exemplary communication skills. Established skills in project management, problem solving, managing details, and process improvement. Independence, initiative, and self-motivation; a commitment to inclusive excellence. Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 and virtual meetings. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree Experience with University student information systems, learning management systems, and/or survey tools.
