ATTENTION ALASKA RESIDENTS! The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Highways and Aviation is looking for a Full‑Time Equipment Operator Journey 2 in Nome to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

What you will be doing:

Perform year‑round maintenance of state highways and airports, including operating and servicing heavy and light‑duty equipment.

Operate various machinery such as graders, dozers (D4 to D7), loaders, semi‑tractors with belly dumps, and snow removal equipment for tasks such as plowing, hauling, ditching, and surface repairs.

Conduct traffic control duties including flagging and support general maintenance activities such as vegetation control, sign and fence upkeep, and drainage structure maintenance.

Perform additional duties such as welding, steam boiler operation for thawing drainage structures, vehicle maintenance, and shop cleanup.

May serve as lead, requiring daily entries into the State MMS computer system.

Commercial Driver’s License required: This position requires the incumbent to possess a Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) per federal regulations (49 CFR 383). You must register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse before performing safety‑sensitive duties and provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382. A conditional hire approval is given only after obtaining an N‑Tanker endorsement within 90 days of hire.

Education and work experience: Provide necessary transcripts or documentation of foreign education to demonstrate equivalency. Include work experience details – employer name, job title, dates, and part‑time/full‑time status – to support minimum qualifications.
