Day Kimball Health is hiring a Program Assistant for our WIC (Women, Infants, & Children) department in Willimantic, CT.

Requirement:
Must be bilingual (preferred: Spanish). Secretarial/Clerical experience is preferred.

Job Summary As the Program Assistant, you will be a vital member of a dynamic team responsible for assisting in the general operation of the Women, Infants, and Children program.
Essential Responsibilities
Interview applicants to obtain basic demographic data, such as name, address, and contact information.
Verify identity, residency, and income eligibility by reviewing required documentation.
Enter all data into the Statewide WIC database.
Follow up on phone calls for missed appointments.
Answer WIC phone calls and handle requests for general information, appointment rescheduling, lost WIC benefits, and other inquiries as assigned by the Site Nutritionist or Supervisor.
Complete necessary paperwork, including maintaining participant files and ensuring accurate documentation.
Education & Experience Requirements
High School Diploma required; Associate degree preferred.
Bilingual Spanish required.
At least 1 year of experience in a medical office or social service agency setting.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Excellent telephone techniques.
Ability to be empathetic yet firm with clients.
Above-average verbal skills.
Ability to carry heavy objects to offsite clinics weekly.
Valid driver’s license and access to a car for traveling to classes, clinics, and meetings.
Knowledge of basic computer operations.
Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with supervisors, co-workers, and participants.
Skill in identifying problems and planning solutions.
