$70,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr The Construction Operation Manager is responsible for providing leadership, technical oversight, performance monitoring and continuous improvement of the Construction group. Responsible for the proper management and control of the total scope of services as defined in each project’s contract documents, to meet the profit objectives of the project.

Essential Functions

Lead and supervise design teams as well as coordinate various sub-consultants. Develops annual plan, individual performance objectives, and drives performance improvement across the organization. Process and procedure development, lessons-learned, pursuit of best-in-class processes and technology, and associated technical resources, contract oversight, and support. Maintain effective communication with all external and internal customers, including Clients, Subconsultants and Engineering staff. Establish and review key performance indicators and make management decisions as necessary to ensure team is meeting or exceeding client standards, contract performance goals, and financial objectives. Manage staffing levels and metrics to ensure staffing levels are appropriate. Source candidates to fill vacancies that result from project driven demands or changes in resource metrics. Establish management, technical, and safety training requirements and ensure they are effectively implemented across the organization. Identify, pilot, and implement new process, technologies, and equipment to continually improve and optimize efficiency, responsiveness, and quality, Responsible for setting project, department and/or division deadlines and budgets. Solving advanced problems and dealing with a variety of options in complex situations. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company. Plan, design, and manages individual projects. Develops and modifies the design contract documents. Prepare design and inspection reports for projects, contract documents, specifications, plans, estimates etc. Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with supervisor. Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements and reviewing bids from contractors. Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates. Conducts pre-construction and project status meetings with contractors and monitors project to ensure standards are met. Develops budgets and schedules. Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems. Coordinates technical review processing and code reviews Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions. Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions. Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completions by the defined deadlines and established quality. Maintains company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations. Marketing and business development including, preparation of proposals, participating in interviews and presentations, and direct interaction with existing and potential clients. Active engagement in local technical societies. Mentor construction project managers. Utilizes existing professional contacts, association networking, and sector expertise to grow our existing client service offering as well as gaining new clients/accounts. Develops and implements business development plans and activities working with consultant and Marketing Manager. Develops and implements strategic objectives aligned with the company’s strategic initiatives.

Required Education / Experience

Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field, such as building science, construction management or civil engineering, and equivalent industry experience. Fundamental knowledge of computer operations and the following applications: CAD, Lotus123 or MS Excel, Constructware web based project management software, MS Word, Primavera’s SureTrak Scheduler or P6, and MS Outlook E-mail system. Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Reviews complex financial/business analysis and reports prepared by subordinates. Ability to analyze the most complex business/financial data and develop innovative solutions. Develops and implements financial policies and procedures. Approves and oversees department budget. Pricing, negotiating, scheduling, construction techniques, cost accounting, and people skills. Ten years of professional experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Capable of working independently. Capable of developing and cultivating client relationships and exhibits enthusiasm in moving ahead in their career. A high level of self-management, commitment and trust with an affinity with underlying company values and an approach that permits effective communication and collaboration with Principals. Active participation in local association chapters, the respect of the local community as an industry leader, and a verifiable network of strong industry contacts necessary for continued and expanded success. An enthusiastic and resilient attitude; the drive to achieve and maximize opportunity. Forward thinking innovator that sets the strategic direction of the Engineering group. Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to respond effectively to a variety of issues from client to project to personnel. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups. Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action. Proven Knowledge of project Management and Project Controls best practices. Ability to lead multi-faceted projects in an executive capacity and command client respect in a billable position.
