Location:
Houston, TX (onsite)
We’re looking for a hands‑on QA leader to build our quality engineering program from the ground up. You’ll start as an individual contributor writing automation, implementing processes, and learning our systems firsthand while establishing the foundation to hire and lead a QA team.
Responsibilities
Build the Program (Months 0‑3)
Design and implement an automation‑first testing strategy across cloud and on‑prem applications
Build test frameworks, CI/CD quality gates, and release acceptance criteria
Establish QA processes, metrics, and tooling that integrate into our SDLC
Own quality end‑to‑end: automation, regression suites, test infrastructure, and release validation
Grow the Team (Months 3‑12)
Hire and mentor a 2‑4 person QA/automation team
Evolve into a player‑coach role—balancing hands‑on work with team leadership
Communicate quality risks and priorities to engineering leadership
Requirements
8+ years in software QA or test automation, with at least 3 years in a leadership or technical lead role
At least two of the following:
Built automation frameworks and test tooling at scale
Established QA programs from scratch
Deep QA experience in BESS, renewable energy, or utility‑scale systems
Technical Must‑Haves:
Expert and advocate for test automation (Pytest, etc.)
Strong experience with CI/CD (Azure DevOps or similar)
Performance/Stress testing knowledge
Comfortable with Docker, test data management, and observability tools
Core Traits:
Automation‑first mindset
Pragmatic and hands‑on; engaged directly in testing/automation
Data‑driven decision maker
Strong communicator who can translate technical risk to business impact
