Summary Provides assistance to the Plant Manager in directing and managing the day-to-day operations of a given facility, ensuring proper staffing, production, quality, and customer satisfaction. Establishes and executes activities that will deliver a competitive edge for Clayens, increasing shareholder value and profitability.

Drives the tactical action plans and projects as necessary to achieve the manufacturing objectives by working in conjunction with Plant Management. Ensures project portfolios are incorporated into projects in order to accomplish measurable business process improvements. Develops a strategy to deploy Lean Six Sigma (LSS) methodology and tools into organizational operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Operations Manager will be responsible for the operations of approximately 40+ employees, utilizing a hands-on, on-the-floor approach.

Oversees supervision of all plant personnel.

Responsible for creating the daily production schedule as well as ensuring the stability of the production schedule for optimum machine efficiency.

Analyze production data (downtime, yields, utilization, scrap, etc.) to identify potential areas of improvement. Works closely with Senior Management to ensure the most cost-effective improvement projects are selected without compromising quality or delivery standards.

Manage the operations cost to enhance profitability while staying within legal guidelines and company policies and establish business plans aimed towards continued quality, safety, and cost improvement procedures.

Ensure production goals are met on time based on customer requirements.

Responsible for maintaining and enforcing NCIM’s safety program.

Maintain quality control within the production area.

Review and evaluate operational results, make necessary adjustments for optimum plant efficiencies.Create short- and long-term strategic plans/goals for the plant operation based on knowledge of plant history and future forecasting requirements.

Responsible for keeping the facility a safe, clean work environment.

Administer and enforce company policies and procedures.

Manage resin inventory levels.

Enforce quality assurance methods, including ISO.

Maintain Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Perform contract review analysis.

Adheres to safety policies and strives to maintain our outstanding safety record.

Keeps work area, tools, supplies, and equipment clean and organized.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent.

Minimum of 6 years of experience in Custom Plastic Injection Molding.

Previous experience utilizing an ERP system is required (IQMS experience).

Knowledge of programs such as Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Must have strong teamwork skills. Must understand team dynamics and be highly effective in motivating, promoting a collaborative environment.

Strong organizational skills.

Strong analytical skills

Must have an excellent attendance record.

Ability to work safely and with minimal supervision

Ability to clearly communicate and interact with all levels of personnel professionally

Ability to follow written and verbal directions and complete work independently

Ability to adhere to workplace rules

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

In-depth knowledge of P&L and quality systems, preferably in plastics and injection molding.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for long periods of time

Able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds

Standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling.

Possibility of exposure to noise, uncontrolled temperatures, and chemicals
