Job Summary This role is responsible for partnering with the Senior Manager, ISO, EHS & Security to drive the Melrose Park site’s commitment to safety and excellence. As the subject matter expert for the site, you will foster a culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety Compliance that resonates throughout the organization. You will inspire, coach, mentor, and train employees while guiding them toward achieving exceptional standards in Environmental, Health, and Safety Compliance. Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will blend analytical skills in prevention and mitigation techniques to reduce risk with dynamic liaison duties, communicating EHS topics to local management, and escalating communication on incident management, injuries, vehicle/property incidents, or regulatory agency inspections and fines.
Responsibilities
Identify EHS issues that are essential for full compliance and conformance to existing and planned business development. Work with the Senior Manager to guide local personnel with EHS responsibilities to ensure a standard approach to the implementation of EHS programs and procedures. Collaborate with local Engineering, Quality Assurance, Logistics, Laboratory, and Production/Supply Chain groups to address EHS project issues at the design stage and ensure adequate funds are included in capital appropriations to prevent costly retrofits. Work with local management, property management, and building engineering/maintenance to establish accurate programs and budgets for compliance with directives, laws, and regulations. Provide in‑house expertise, consultation, and technical skills to all departments to maintain a standard approach to problem‑solving and early introduction of EHS safeguards for new equipment, processes, and instrumentation. Collaborate with the Senior Manager to develop local EHS action plans on an annual basis to anticipate expenditure and allocate adequate resources to meet EHS objectives. Integrate EHS issues into local business operations and recommend budgetary considerations for EHS reviews and environmental programs. Collect, analyze, and communicate statistical data, KPIs, and injury/illness surveys related to all EHS incidents to local management, regional EHS, and global EHS. Assist Human Resources in enforcing general company work rules impacting EHS. Develop and maintain Emergency Action Plans and facilitate emergency responses and training. Provide training to emergency responders and develop EHS awareness and specific training for employees, including new hires, respirator fit‑testing, and mandatory EHS onboarding. Guide and support site EHS investigations for misconduct, gross negligence, property damage, occupational injuries, near misses, regulatory violations, OSHA‑300 logs, OSHA 301 reports, and workers’ compensation filings. Ensure all employees comply with company documents, programs, and activities related to Health, Safety, Environment, Energy, and Quality Management Systems.
