Sports Management Coordinator - Parks & Recreation Coordinator
SPORTS MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR
duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Administrative
Lead a diverse team responsible for athletic programs, events, facility management, sports marketing, community partnerships, and athletic liaison roles. Manage personnel including volunteers, interns, contractors, and staff through hiring, training, evaluations, and discipline. Understand the political and operational intricacies of the Sports Management Office. Assist with programming, operations, and emergency management as needed. Serve as a member of the department management team. Focus on athletic complexes, leagues, marketing, sponsorships, and contracts. Develop and implement strategic goals aligned with city and department objectives. Communicate goals clearly and operate to meet customer needs. Build partnerships with other departments, private sector, and community organizations. Coordinate policy compliance and address staff and citizen concerns fairly and promptly. Make informed decisions using multiple information sources. Stay current with trends to keep programs relevant. Assess community needs and respond to federal and state mandates. Prepare reports and presentations. Coordinate programming for diverse populations and work toward national accreditation. Expand volunteer and intern programs. Budget
Develop, monitor, and be accountable for the annual budget. Present budget proposals and contribute to capital projects. Use technology for report analysis and decision-making. Make decisions based on pricing, KPIs, and other financial tools. Contract & Agreement Oversight
Prepare and manage contracts with outside organizations, ensuring compliance. Athletic Programs
Manage developmentally appropriate athletic programs ensuring safety and inclusivity. Conduct public awareness and media relations. Promote programs via website and outreach. Seek sponsorship opportunities and identify service gaps. Advocate for youth development. Facility Management and Sports Marketing
Manage athletic complexes, oversee use agreements, and coordinate rentals and marketing efforts. Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years combined education and experience in recreation, parks, business, or public administration. Valid Virginia or North Carolina driver’s license. Special Requirements
Availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Prepared to work during emergencies or inclement weather. Potentially work across multiple sites. Attend department orientation and training.
