Product Manager, Data Platform – Data Ingestion and Movement Base pay range: $88,150.00/yr - $157,850.00/yr

GEICO is looking for a customer-obsessed and results-oriented Product Manager to support its Data Ingestion and Movement platform. The role will help drive product direction for data ingestion, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data movement services, focusing on enabling reliable data flow into the lakehouse and other data stores. The ideal candidate will have a technical background in data engineering and experience delivering scalable data platforms and pipelines.

Description As a Product Manager for Data Ingestion and Movement, you will support the product vision and execution for GEICO’s data ingestion and movement products. You will shape a platform that enables pipeline‑as‑a‑service and supports a scalable data mesh architecture, abstracting complexity to empower domain teams to build, deploy, and govern data pipelines autonomously. You will also manage stakeholder alignment and bridge technical solutions with business value.

Key Responsibilities

Support the development and execution of data ingestion and movement platform vision aligned with business goals and customer needs

Help create and maintain a clear, prioritized roadmap for data ingestion and movement capabilities that balances short‑term delivery with long‑term strategic objectives

Support evangelizing the platform across the organization and drive stakeholder alignment

Stay abreast of industry trends and the competitive landscape (Kafka, Airflow, Glue, Data Factory, Dataflow, etc.) to inform strategy

Support gathering requirements and formulating product strategy for ETL/ELT pipelines and data movement services

Understand end‑to‑end ingestion workflows and how movement fits the broader ecosystem

Support data governance initiatives for lineage, quality, and compliance

Ensure processes adhere to regulatory, compliance, and data quality standards

Partner with engineering to develop ingestion tools, orchestration services, and movement capabilities

Help define capabilities for monitoring, error handling, and validation to improve reliability and performance

Support customer roadshows and training on capabilities

Build instrumentation and observability into tools for product decisions and pipeline monitoring

Work closely with engineering, data teams to ensure delivery

Partner with support and engineering for clear feedback loops

Translate technical capabilities into business value and user benefits

Support alignment across multiple stakeholders in complex environments

Qualifications

Understanding of ingestion patterns, ETL/ELT processes, and pipeline architectures (Kafka, Airflow, Spark, Glue, etc.)

Experience with integration APIs, connectors, and orchestration tools

Basic understanding of monitoring, observability, and quality validation practices

Experience in cloud ecosystems (AWS, GCP, Azure)

Proven analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven approach

Experience working with Agile tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps)

Strong communication, stakeholder, and cross‑functional collaboration skills

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage backlogs

Preferred

Previous experience as a software or data engineer

Strong business acumen to prioritize features by customer value

Experience with ingestion tools (Kafka, NiFi, Kinesis, Event Hubs, etc.)

Knowledge of data lineage, quality frameworks, and compliance requirements

Insurance industry experience

Experience

Minimum 5+ years of technical product management experience building platforms that support data ingestion, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data infrastructure

Track record of delivering successful products in fast‑paced environments

Experience supporting complex, multi‑stakeholder initiatives

Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical product specifications

Experience with customer research, user interviews, and data‑driven decision making

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field (required)

MBA/MS or equivalent experience (preferred)
