Job Summary / Purpose:
The primary responsibility of this position is development of power generation projects, combined cycle, simple cycle gas turbine, solar power, and energy storage projects. Responsibilities include managing the origination and development of projects and/or programs to which the project manager is assigned with a focus on projects that can achieve project cost and schedule objectives while achieving excellence in the areas of project safety and reliability. This position is directly responsible for the management and oversight of all front‑end loading stages of project development with a hand‑off to an execution project team for the construction of the facility. The project manager is responsible for assembling and providing leadership needs of the cross‑functional project team, technology understanding and experience, and building an effective relationship with key internal & external stakeholders, including contractors where applicable. The manager also manages risks to ensure risks are identified, evaluated, and mitigated.
Job Duties / Responsibilities:
Promotes safe behavior, in accordance with company expectations, and adherence to the safety rules on the project.
Leads a project development team that is focused on delivering power generation and storage projects that can be executed safely and that enable the enterprise to meet the stated sustainability commitments. Understands the requirements and contributions of critical team positions and that of the key stakeholders.
Organizes and leads project teams to develop projects in accordance with the applicable corporate standards and guidelines. Ensures that team members fulfill the responsibilities as required of their roles. Navigates the project through the Entergy Stage Gate Process (SGP) and coordinates activities to meet the requirements of Entergy's SGP and associated deliverables (business case, estimates, schedules, risk registers, gate review deliverables, etc.). Oversees the project team in the development of project deliverables through the internal approval process. Coordinates the activities of project stakeholders and working groups engaged in project work.
Serves as the commercial lead with full understanding of the contractual aspects of projects and the need to create a contracting strategy that can be executed safely, with high quality and acceptable risk allocation – all while delivering cost and schedule certainty and maintaining expected project economic benefits. Supports and/or leads contract negotiations for contracts and fulfills duties as contract manager, as needed.
Develops and maintains the Project Execution Plan and executes the project in adherence with this plan. Establishes and maintains project documentation. Coordinates the efforts of all project participants, including consultants and contractors. Ensures previous projects' lessons learned and applicable industry experience are incorporated into the project execution plan. Manages the project in line with the project budget. Ensures project controls are implemented to effectively manage project scope, schedule, quality, cost, cash flow, risk, contracts, and communications in accordance with the applicable corporate standards.
Provides clear, timely and accurate project status reports for management. Prepares reports and presentations for management. Issues status reports as required. Identifies, makes timely decisions, and takes prompt action on project issues that could impact project performance. Communicates issues to the next level of leadership promptly.
Understands the roles of the utility and regulators in project development and viability. Works closely with regulatory functions to support the requirement of receiving the necessary certifications.
Supports enterprise‑wide DIB initiatives across the project team.
Mentors and develops team members. Assures that individual development plans for each team member are complete and progressing.
Minimum Requirements: Minimum education:
Bachelor's degree and 0‑3 years of project management experience in new generation origination and development; or in lieu of degree, 5 years of project management experience in new generation origination and development.
Minimum experience:
0‑3 years of experience in Project Management.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient in project management fundamentals.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and project management applications, processes, software, and equipment.
Understanding of industry best practices.
Demonstrated cross‑functional project leadership experience, team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor.
