U.S. Bank is seeking a Business Development Executive (BDE) to join the Institutional Client Group (ICG). The BDE will drive growth by building a network of contacts and leads, identifying new opportunities, and cultivating strong client relationships that increase revenue and market share for U.S. Bank.
Position Summary As a Business Development Executive, your primary focus is driving growth by identifying, prospecting, and acquiring new corporate and commercial banking clients with over $50MM in annual revenue. This role is for a results-driven professional who excels at building client relationships and expanding the bank’s market presence. Success is measured by cultivating leads, securing new business, and contributing to revenue and market share growth.
Key Responsibilities
Prospecting & Lead Generation: Identify potential commercial clients through market research, industry networks, referrals, and events. Develop and execute a strategic prospecting plan to build and maintain a robust pipeline of new business opportunities.
Client Acquisition: Initiate contact with decision-makers, present tailored banking solutions, conduct needs assessments, and deliver proposals to secure new client relationships. Provide market insights and tailored financial strategies.
Market Expertise: Stay informed about market trends, competitor offerings, and industry developments to position the bank as a leader in commercial banking. Leverage intelligence to identify untapped opportunities and optimize outreach.
Relationship Building: Collaborate with internal teams (RMs, Treasury, Payments, Product, Credit, etc.) to deliver seamless onboarding. Represent the bank at events to enhance brand visibility and credibility. Monitor client satisfaction and resolve issues to ensure loyalty.
Performance Metrics: Achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual new business development goals. Maintain accurate records of prospecting activity, pipeline status, and closed deals in CRM tools.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience
5+ years in a corporate/commercial banking environment or similar sales role with focus on new client acquisition
Strong understanding of commercial banking products and services (credit, treasury, cash management)
Proficient in CRM platforms and prospecting tools
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
Entrepreneurial and driven to achieve ambitious goals
Ability to build trust with clients and internal stakeholders
Other Requirements
Willingness to travel as required for prospect meetings and industry events
Working Arrangements & Travel The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule with an in-office expectation of three (3) or more days per week. The position also requires 2 or more hours of driving per week.
Compensation & Benefits Base pay for this role typically ranges from $200,000 to $215,000. Final compensation is based on candidate qualifications and discussed with a U.S. Bank recruiter. The salary range for the primary location is listed as $159,970.00 - $188,200.00, with additional benefits including incentive programs, retirement plans, and other perquisites. Benefits may vary by role, location, or hours and include healthcare, life insurance, disability, parental leave, 401(k), paid vacation, holidays, adoption assistance, and leave accruals.
