Scope:

Under minimum supervision, lead the development, implementation, and enforcement of workplace safety programs, standard operating procedures (SOPs), training programs, and compliance initiatives to ensure compliance under OSHA, MSHA, and other regulatory requirements. Partner with leadership to support efforts in compliance and adherence to workplace safety regulations and guidelines. Support and adhere to the Smyth Industries Policies and Procedures, Safety Compliance, and Values. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Safety Program Development & Implementation: Design, implement, and oversee comprehensive workplace safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and other regulatory requirements. Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations, implementing corrective actions where necessary. Develop and facilitate employee safety training programs and ensure compliance with required certifications. Lead emergency preparedness planning and response initiatives. Create and implement new/existing safety programs by keeping abreast of current safety regulations. Assist project management teams with pre-project, pre-phase, and pre-task safety planning. Review, edit, support in the creation of, and approve site-specific safety plans. Lead by example to foster a strong culture of safety, ensuring that workplace values drive daily operations and decision-making. Cultivate and maintain a safety-focused work environment where core values guide behaviors, practices, and policies. Inspections / Audits: Conduct comprehensive workplace evaluations to identify potential hazards and recommend measures to protect workers from unsafe conditions. Identify potential health and safety hazards by examining work environments, operations, processes, and materials/equipment used. Perform detailed inspections and audits of work practices across project sites, yards, offices, vehicles, and equipment to ensure compliance with both internal safety standards and external regulatory requirements. Travel to project sites to conduct inspections/audits, provide safety training, and support construction teams in understanding safety compliance and implementing safe work practices. Conduct audits, analyze results, and present findings, offering actionable recommendations for immediate corrective actions where necessary. Complete detailed inspections and report findings in a timely manner, ensuring all required documentation is provided to the client or operations team. Guide and facilitate the implementation of corrective measures when hazards are identified. Manage and respond to all OSHA, MSHA, or other government entity correspondence, including citations, ensuring timely resolution and compliance. Training: Coordinate and deliver both initial and renewal safety training for all employees, including those in remote locations. Assist in the development and facilitation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) training sessions. Manage and oversee all required training classes for employees, including OSHA 10, OSHA 30, CPR, scaffolding, ladder safety, and any other relevant safety training programs. Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific safety programs tailored to the unique needs of each worksite. Assist in investigating accidents and incidents to identify contributing factors, root causes, and potential systemic issues. Collaborate with supervisors, safety personnel, and relevant team members to conduct thorough and unbiased investigations. Analyze accident data and trends to identify patterns and areas for improvement in safety practices. Prepare comprehensive investigation reports that detail findings, lessons learned, and recommended actions. Communicate findings effectively to impacted team members, supervisors, and management. Track and monitor the implementation of corrective actions to ensure they are effectively addressing the root causes. Maintain detailed records of investigations, ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete, and in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience in a safety or compliance role. OSHA 500 & 501 certifications. CPR and First Aid certifications. 7 years of safety experience in construction or mining industries. In-depth knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, and EPA standards required. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Detail-oriented and committed to maintaining a high level of accuracy in documentation and reporting. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement. Pass a pre-employment drug screening. Required to possess a valid driver's license and legally be able to operate a company vehicle. Must be able to physically perform all required duties. Be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment and work around industrial equipment. Preferred Qualifications:

10 + years of safety experience in construction or mining industries. Workers’ compensation. Root cause analysis experience. Strong knowledge in water and reclamation construction. Bilingual (write and speak Spanish). Ability to create safety programs and trainings in Spanish. Accessibility:
