This role is for a Facilities Category Specialist with the FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. The Facilities Category Specialist will support strategic sourcing initiatives across facilities-related categories including preventative maintenance (generator, HVAC, etc.), janitorial services, landscaping, snow removal, waste management, general construction building projects, electrical, fire protection, food services, third-party logistics, and other real estate and operational services. The role collaborates with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to deliver cost savings, service improvements, and strategic value. FirstEnergy Supply Chain is undergoing a digital transformation, implementing a new Source-to-Pay system and investing in advanced tools such as market intelligence software, supplier risk analytics, spend analysis, and clean sheeting to enhance strategic sourcing capabilities. This position is designated as on-site in Akron, Ohio. Responsibilities
Support the strategic category manager in achieving cost reductions and service enhancements in facilities-related categories Develop sourcing strategies focused on total cost of ownership and operational efficiency Partner with stakeholders in Facilities, Project Management, Operations, and Legal to identify opportunities and execute improvement plans Lead RFPs, supplier selection, and contract negotiations for facilities services Analyze supplier performance and market trends to inform category strategy Manage supplier relationships and track performance metrics Ensure compliance with sourcing policies and procedures Monitor market dynamics and define cost benchmarks for facilities categories Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or related discipline and 4-7 years of relevant experience In lieu of a degree, High School diploma and 7-10 years of related work experience Experience in sourcing or procurement, preferably in facilities or real estate services Proven success in implementing category improvements and managing supplier performance Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills Familiarity with sourcing tools and ERP systems is a plus Compensation and Benefits
