About The Role Johnstone Supply – Detroit Group is seeking an energetic and knowledgeable
Product Specialist
to join our growing team. This new role will play a key part in supporting our product strategy, vendor partnerships, and sales initiatives across multiple HVAC product lines. As a Product Specialist, you’ll serve as the go-to resource for both internal teams and customers, ensuring our branches have the tools, training, and product knowledge needed to succeed. You’ll work closely with vendors, the sales team, and management to strengthen product performance and category growth.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain a deep understanding of Johnstone Supply’s HVAC product offerings.
Support internal staff and customers with accurate product information, selection guidance, and technical assistance.
Coordinate with the Vendor Manager and marketing team on product launches, promotions, and training sessions.
Conduct product training sessions for store employees, sales staff, and customers.
Collaborate with vendors to stay updated on new technologies, programs, and pricing changes.
Analyze category performance and help identify opportunities for growth or improvement.
Assist in forecasting, inventory planning, and promotional recommendations.
Respond to questions from sales and branch teams to ensure consistent product communication.
Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in HVAC distribution, wholesale, or contracting required.
Strong product and application knowledge within the HVAC industry.
Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills.
Comfortable collaborating across departments and managing multiple priorities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with Eclipse or other ERP systems is a plus.
Self‑starter with a passion for helping others learn and succeed.
