Production Buyer/Planner

is responsible for ensuring the efficient flow of materials and the timely production of finished goods to meet customer demand. This role coordinates production scheduling, oversees raw material procurement, and manages inventory levels to support production goals while maintaining cost efficiency. The position requires close collaboration with Production, Customer Service, and Supply Chain teams to ensure that manufacturing operations run smoothly and align with company requirements and MRP planning. Responsibilities

(Include but are not limited to the following) Production Planning & Scheduling

Develop, maintain, and adjust the production schedule based on customer orders, inventory levels, and capacity constraints. Coordinate daily and weekly production planning meetings with Production and Customer Service teams. Ensure that production orders are released in accordance with MRP recommendations and business priorities. Purchasing & Inventory Management

Plan, purchase, and maintain adequate levels of raw materials and packaging to meet production requirements. Monitor supplier performance, lead times, and deliveries to ensure on‑time availability of materials. Maintain accurate inventory records and perform periodic reviews to optimize stock levels and reduce obsolescence. Cross‑functional Communication & Reporting

Provide timely updates on production schedules and order status to internal stakeholders. Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as schedule adherence, inventory accuracy, and material shortages. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning, purchasing, and supply chain efficiency. Safety & Compliance

Promote and adhere to all plant safety policies and procedures. Ensure that all purchasing and production activities comply with company standards and applicable regulations. Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in production planning, buying, or scheduling within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Proficient in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or equivalent). Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other computer applications. Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the animal nutrition, food, or chemical manufacturing industries. Knowledge of lean manufacturing and inventory management principles. Experience with continuous improvement or supply chain optimization projects.
