Day Shift: 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM Night Shift: 5:00 PM - 5:00 AM Responsibilities
Responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the facility are operating at peak efficiency. This includes planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response. The technician serves as an expert technical resource reporting to a program manager, interacting with Onsite Engineering Operations (OEO) and any third-party vendors. They are expected to be a singular focal point for all facility operations and support. Facility equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. Render assistance in administration and regulation of the duties of junior technicians and provide oversight of contractors’ roles for electrical duties. Analyze systems requirements, conduct research on equipment and procedures, and recommend modifications to new and existing systems. Install new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines, relies on MOPs, manufacturer’s literature, and industry best practices to perform tasks. Utilize safe working practices; apply lockout/tagout, MSDS, maintain good housekeeping, etc. Ability to type and utilize common administrative and office software. Troubleshoot, repair, and modify malfunctioning electronic units like printed circuit boards, set up sensing mechanisms, and advanced electrical circuits. Perform maintenance, installations, and service repairs on critical data center systems, as well as all industrial electrical equipment and systems including power distribution, electronic components and lighting throughout the data center campus; use appropriate test equipment to diagnose systems and ensure activities are logged in CMMS. Conduct daily walk-throughs documenting power availability, temperature and humidity, alarm status, etc., and monitor site BAS following site MOPs & SOPs. Manage mechanical and electrical systems in emergency situations including HVAC components, power distribution equipment, generator systems, load transfer and control systems, UPS, DC power systems, and fire and life safety. Identify required materials and parts for maintenance and repair; prepare cost estimates for parts, equipment, and supplies for proposed installation or repairs. Maintain relationships with major vendor accounts. Schedule, coordinate, and oversee all critical environment vendors during maintenance, emergency, and break/fix events to ensure safety and power to the critical load. Set up and operate electrical data capturing devices (Dranetz, Fluke PQA, etc.). Create MOPs and SOPs; perform periodic technical and quality reviews to ensure up-to-date techniques and safety guidelines. Collect and generate internal and vendor field service reports describing all activities; review reports prior to submission to end user. Develop reliability reports to identify areas for increased efficiency, resiliency, or to mitigate unplanned downtime. Conduct training with junior technicians and other staff on electrical equipment/system maintenance and operation. Qualifications
Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or GED. Desired / Advantageous Qualifications
Licensed or Certified by a national or state certification program at the Master or Journeyman level, preferred. Candidate Expectations
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, floor plans, construction documents, safety requirements, OEM operating and maintenance instructions, job specifications, and MOPs. Organize safe maintenance principles for regulating and scheduling planned and unplanned activities; interpret building codes and regulations as they relate to installations and apply them as required by the site. Maintain maintenance records as required by City, State, and EPA regulations. Operate and inspect emergency power generation and reliability equipment; ensure maintenance is performed according to MOPs and manufacturer guidance. Ability to utilize hand tools and test equipment to perform maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical equipment. Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot advanced electrical circuits. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of power density and HVAC system capacities; ensure availability and capacity targets are achieved.
