Overview
Maintenance Technician I
is responsible for safely performing emergency and preventative repairs to plant machinery and infrastructure. The technician responds to the needs of the production supervisor in the event of unplanned production line breakdowns and works to complete repairs in a timely manner to support productivity and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities
Safely perform emergency and preventative repairs to plant machinery and infrastructure. Conduct advanced troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Respond to the needs of the production supervisor during emergency breakdowns. Utilize manpower and equipment effectively to complete repairs promptly. Clean up maintenance and work areas after repairs. Ensure safe use of company equipment and tools; follow Lock-out/Tag-out procedures and report unsafe conditions. Inventory maintenance supplies and inform supervisor/planner when replenishment is needed; provide ordering information for stock replenishment. Enter and complete work orders in the Work Order system as directed by supervision. Report to Maintenance Leadman or Production Supervisor during off-shifts and weekends. Understand and comply with the Quality and Environmental Management System principles at BlueScope Coated Products. Communicate daily with Production and Quality Control to resolve problems and achieve company goals. Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or GED; technology diploma or trade certification or a minimum of 3–5 years of experience as an Industrial Mechanic and/or Electrician. Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and simple correspondence; ability to communicate information in small group settings. Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to work instructions and solve problems involving multiple variables in standard situations. Other Skills & Abilities:
Able to operate power-operated industrial vehicles and use power tools; basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and email. Physical Demands:
Regularly able to talk or hear, walk, and occasionally stand, sit, bend, stoop, handle objects, reach, climb or balance. Capable of lifting at least 75 pounds. Vision abilities include close-up and distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. Work Environment:
Occasionally exposed to moving parts, chemicals, extreme temperatures; moderate noise. Flexible hours including weekends and holidays and potential call-ins. Compensation:
