University Planner II – Inside Higher Ed Job No: 537622 | Department: 70010000 - FPC-FAC - PLAN - CONSTR-ADMIN | Location: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL)

Job Overview Responsible for monitoring and implementing the campus master plan, preparing evaluation reports, managing GIS analyses, and supporting construction projects in alignment with Florida statutes and university plans.

Responsibilities

Monitor Campus Master Plan implementation and revision, processing plan amendments.

Prepare evaluation, appraisal, and data analysis reports per Florida Statute and Board of Governors regulations.

Maintain a long‑range vision guiding physical development over the next 40+ years, including land use, open space, density, primary circulation, and linkages with surrounding communities.

Prepare planning data, reports, studies, and coordinate with construction projects.

Support construction projects with site analysis, program inputs, and site plan review to ensure campus master plan compliance.

Utilize GIS for a variety of analyses and ensure accuracy of planning‑related data.

Develop, monitor, and maintain various master plans and state land management plans per Florida Statute.

Participate in committees and working groups, possibly in a staff support role.

Perform other facilities planning‑related duties as assigned, including managing work under contracts, grants, or consultants.

Qualifications

Master’s degree with major coursework in urban planning, regional planning, urban design, public administration, or a closely related field and one year of relevant professional experience; or a bachelor’s degree in the same field with three years of professional experience in urban, regional, state, or campus planning.

Effective communication and presentation skills.

Computer data analysis and mapping capabilities.

Knowledge of GIS ArcScene, ArcGIS Pro, BIM and AutoDesk software preferred.

Familiarity with Florida growth management, environmental planning, urban design, and/or higher education administration desirable.

Preferred

AICP certification preferred.

Salary $65,000.00 to $75,000.00 Annually

Work Schedule 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday (normal schedule; work hours may vary with assignments and workload).
