Ithaca College . The position is a multi-year renewable notice appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Stage Management. The position will begin in August, 2026. Situated in the Finger Lakes region of New York, the Ithaca College School of Music, Theatre, and Dance invites applications from candidates committed to inclusive ideas and practices in teaching, production, and curriculum. Position Description
The successful candidate will teach assigned Stage Management classes at the undergraduate level (examples include: Stage Management Foundations, Stage Management, Advanced Stage Management, Stage Management Seminar). They will mentor students in production and may teach courses that serve the foundational curriculum for the Center for Theatre and Dance (examples include: Introduction to Theatre, Race and Theatre in the United States, Introduction to Professional Theatre). They will participate in departmental, school, and college recruitment and service, including advising and review of students. They will provide leadership in production in collaboration with directors, choreographers, student designers, stage managers, and theatre artists as part of a robust production program. The candidate will maintain connections to professional networks to bridge students and the profession. The School supports continuing professional commitments. The position involves teaching, production leadership, and engagement in recruitment and service activities to support the program and its students. Minimum Qualifications
Minimum:
M.F.A. in the field or related field; or a bachelor’s degree with significant or distinguished professional experience. The ideal candidate will possess: a strong interest in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students; an ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures; and an ability to demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills. an understanding of how the theatrical production process functions in and outside of the rehearsal room. The Ithaca College Center for Theatre and Dance combines conservatory style training with broad liberal arts education. Degree programs include five B.F.A. pre-professional programs (acting, musical theatre, dance and choreography for musical theatre, stage management, and theatre production & design), a B.S. in Theatre Administration, a B.A. in Theatre Studies, and minors in Theater or Dance.
