Mandarin Oriental New York is looking for a Bell Captain to join our Guest Service team. Based at the Mandarin Oriental New York within the Guest Service Department, the Bell Captain is responsible for overall communication, organization, record keeping and facilitation of an efficient guest service operation. The Bell Captain reports to the Director and Assistant Director of Front Office Operations. As Bell Captain, you will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities. Responsibilities
Initiate contact with guests entering the hotel Approach guests needing assistance Be familiar with all hotel services including spa and dining Actively listen and communicate specific guest requests accurately to the Concierge, Reception and Guest Relations colleagues to ensure complete follow up Other duties as deemed appropriate by the Director of Front Office and Front Office Manager Read emails and share pertinent information with the guest service team Utilize digital platforms that record guest long-term storage items Complete manual guest item storage logs accurately and timely Complete manual logs of guest items for porterage Communicate with the guest service team on provided communication devices to relay requests such as check-in, check-out, room moves and other tasks Understand guest inquiries and provide responses Focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous Promote positive relations with all individuals who approach the Bell Stand and by telephone Think clearly, quickly, maintain concentration and make concise decisions Focus attention on details and maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data Ensure security of guestroom access Perform job functions with minimal supervision Work cohesively with other departments and colleagues as part of a team Be flexible as the job changes Analyze and resolve problems exercising good judgement Work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays and evenings if necessary Maintain a professional image and personality exuding confidence and leadership skills Be an ambassador to Mandarin Oriental Hotel Company at all times, in and outside of the workplace Be a clear thinker in pressure situations and exercise good judgement Work well under pressure of check-in/check-out of guests and in coordinating all departmental functions Remain stationary at assigned post for extended periods of time Maintain complete knowledge of: hotel features/services, hours of operations, restaurant concepts, menus, dress code and ambiance, daily expected arrivals/departures, and scheduled group activities Maintain knowledge of meeting/banquet room locations Qualifications
Able to communicate written and spoken English Excellent overall communication skills Able to multi-task Team player Able to stand for extended periods of time Able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis Able to lift up to 100 lbs on an occasional basis Desirable: 2 years New York hotel Bell Person experience Multilingual is preferred Pay and Benefits
Pay $31.20 to $41.60 hourly, commensurate with experience A competitive benefits package Note:
