Who We Are Founded in 2001, LEARN is a non profit network of PreK-8 th grade elementary schools that is creating measurable, transformational change in the lives of its students. We currently educate 4,100 students, a majority low-income, minority student population (88% and 98%, respectively), across 12 campuses across Chicago, Lake County, and Washington D.C.

What You’ll Do LEARN is seeking an experienced School Facilities Assistant for our DC campus. Your main role will be supporting maintenance and the smooth operation of LEARN DC’s campus and grounds, including cleaning, basic maintenance, and event setup/teardown, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for students and staff.
Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness of the campus: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing furniture, cleaning restrooms, disposing trash, changing light bulbs, etc.
Manage grounds: litter pickup, snow removal, salting, shoveling, debris removal, etc., especially during inclement weather.
Apply cleaning chemicals safely and store supplies properly.
Perform minor repairs, painting, and equipment maintenance.
Secure and monitor equipment and supplies against loss or theft.
Inspect and maintain facility safety and security, including locking and securing buildings at the end of the day.
Maintain grounds including mowing, watering, trimming, and leaf disposal.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need
High School diploma or equivalent.
Own tools for maintenance tasks.
Strong attention to cleanliness and building appearance.
Experience in building operations, janitorial, maintenance, or construction.
Knowledge of safety procedures for cleaning and maintenance.
Ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance.
Service-oriented, proactive, detail-oriented.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics
Good organizational and communication skills.
Professional demeanor and attire.
Ability to develop and implement procedures.
Multitasking and managing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Initiative and independent judgment.
Positive attitude and high energy.
Preferred Qualifications Training in maintenance, alarm systems, HVAC, electrical, or mechanical systems is a plus.
