Main duties of the job In this role, you will oversee the end‑to‑end process for commercial home delivery of medicines, including purchasing, receipt, charging, and invoicing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Trust policies. You’ll supervise daily operations within the pharmacy office and provide leadership support in the absence of the Pharmacy Homecare Manager. A key part of your responsibilities will involve coordinating workload allocation and contributing to the development of future homecare services.

To succeed, you’ll need excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards. Strong communication and problem‑solving skills are essential, as you’ll collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to deliver safe, efficient, and patient‑focused services.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

To supervise and carry out all necessary procedures relating to the purchasing, receipt charging and invoicing of all commercial home delivery of medicines and associated sundries on a daily basis for the Trust.

To manage the workload of the pharmacy office in the absence of the Pharmacy Homecare Manager.

To support with allocation of workload related to future services that the Homecare Team will be undertaking.

Person specification Knowledge

Essential criteria

Knowledge of the full range of office procedures gained by practical experience and by competency based in‑house training

Awareness of the importance of Health and Safety in the workplace

Desirable criteria

Knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology

Skills

Essential criteria

Good organisational skills

Good oral and written communication skills

Excellent customer care skills

Numerate and accurate and able to maintain these skills in a busy environment

Excellent keyboard skills

Computer literate

Able to follow written procedures

Able to act on own initiative

Ability to use standard office equipment e.g. telephone / fax machine

Desirable criteria

Previous experience in collating and presenting information in Excel report format

Previous experience of dealing with the JAC pharmacy system

Essential criteria

Previous experience in a customer care environment

Significant experience of working in a hospital purchasing environment

Previous experience of working with a live stock control computer system

Desirable criteria

Previous experience in a hospital or retail purchasing environment

Previous experience of EDI

Qualifications

Essential criteria

GCSE grade 4 or above or equivalent in English and Mathematics or previous relevant experience

ECDL or equivalent

Desirable criteria

NVQ level 2 in Business Administration or previous relevant experience
