Office Services Senior Coordinator - Surgical Pathology Consultation Office
Under the direction of the Pathology Support Services Manager, the Office Services Senior Coordinator assists with daily administrative, accessioning, and office duties in the Division of Surgical Pathology Consultation Office. Key responsibilities include receiving and logging non‑OSU pathology cases (slides, paraffin tissue blocks, outside pathology reports) for second opinion diagnosis; ensuring receipt of written documentation for consultation from ordering physicians and third‑party payer information for billing accuracy; using IHIS to register patients and order consultation cases; performing additional staining and specialty testing as indicated; organizing consult slides, blocks, and paperwork; maintaining quality assurance spreadsheets; operating computer equipment to produce confidential medical reports and correspondence; answering phones and responding to inquiries from department and medical center staff, pathologists, clinicians, physicians, researchers, attorneys; researching, compiling, and analyzing materials; producing mailings for patient consultation reports; returning outside blocks and slides per retention policies; collaborating with OSU medical center personnel to ensure timely communications for accessioning; collaborating with pathology core facility staff for accurate accessioning of molecular pathology cases; directing student employees to assist with office tasks and case delivery. The coordinator works closely with OSU medical center personnel to ensure timely accessioning and communication, and with pathology core facility staff to ensure accurate molecular pathology accessioning. The coordinator directs student employees to provide assistance with office tasks and frequent delivery of cases to/from the pathologists or to/from the histology lab.
Job Requirements High School diploma or GED. 2 years of relevant experience required.
