Due to our continuing growth and success, we are seeking a full-time Supervising Paralegal to join our developing in-house law firm. This position will lead a group of legal support staff assisting attorneys in handling insurance defense cases.
Essential Job Functions
Assist with the interviewing and onboarding process for new legal support staff hires
Facilitate training and development for new hires and existing employees
Interact with the Court, drafting pleadings, motions, discovery; coordinating medical exams, scheduling court appearances & discovery, and managing all aspects of the defense of cases from inception through trial
Administrative skills necessary to assist with the operation of an in-house insurance defense firm
Supervision responsibility for performance, quality, productivity, attendance, and dependability for legal support staff
Provide coverage when necessary due to unavailability of other support staff
Work in tandem with legal operations and firm leadership to ensure directive compliance and protocol execution by support staff
Point of contact with firm vendors re: medical exams, court reporting services, records retrieval services, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned
Experience/Qualifications
Civil litigation and insurance defense experience
Paralegal Certification or equivalent education/experience required
Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
3+ years’ experience as a paralegal handling insurance related defense cases specific to No Fault/PIP coverage, bodily injury and/or UM/UIM claims
Ability to thrive in a high-volume environment managing an electronic-based case load
Must be organized and have the ability to multitask, while prioritizing work

Physical Actions/Environment Working conditions are typical of an office environment. Requires prompt and regular attendance; ability to move about the office to coordinate work with others; standing, sitting, and typing for extended periods; and lifting and/or carrying up to 5 lbs. Ability to frequently communicate with others in-person, on the phone/virtually, and in writing. Candidates must be willing to work onsite in the Southfield, MI office.
Starting Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 annually based on experience
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 5 PM. Hybrid schedule available: 4 days onsite, 1 day remote per week.
