The Paralegal will directly support the legal team of the Office of General Counsel (OGC), effectively manage OGC files, documents and systems, and support legal and non-legal members in fulfilling the responsibilities of the OGC. This position handles a variety of routine and administrative tasks under direct supervision and supports special projects as needed for OGC/Moffitt globally. Duties

Specific duties may encompass (but are not limited to) the following depending upon assigned support area (ex. contracting, clinical affairs, clinical trial transactions, research, employment and/or litigation): manage files and projects, prepare documents, perform basic research, and provide support to both legal and non-legal members of the Institution in an effort to fulfill the responsibilities of the OGC. Review, analyze, and interpret contractual language including terms and conditions, scope of work, duration, price, warranty, indemnification, and confidentiality provisions for the Institution’s contracts. Draft, redline, amend, and negotiate contracts and business transaction documents under the direct supervision of an assigned supervising attorney in the OGC. Promote and ensure compliance with the Institution’s contracting processes by facilitating and monitoring the initiation, progression, and finalization of contracts, including adhering to timelines and overseeing the review, negotiation, and execution of contracts. Understand and adhere to current internal policies and procedures, state and federal laws and regulations, and developments in healthcare law. Engage in daily verbal, written, and electronic communications with varying stakeholders, business partners, leadership, and vendors. The Ideal Candidate

Provide legal advice and counsel to Moffitt management and staff regarding bio-medical focused research, intellectual property, grants, ethics and regulatory compliance, and related contracting. Display strong organization, problem-solving, and computer skills. Possess excellent research, written and verbal communications skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, faculty, customers, and the general public. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook; Internet proficiency. Responsibilities

Paralegal duties: directly support the legal team of the OGC, manage OGC files, documents and systems, and assist with routine and administrative tasks; support special projects for OGC/Moffitt globally. Assist OGC in preparing, circulating and filing legal opinions, contracts, corporate and other legal documents, including government reports and related filings. Assist with litigation projects, including filing and redacting motions and preparing printed materials as needed. Draft, review and revise OGC correspondence and documents; maintain institutional policy revisions and processes; track as assigned. Research and analyze law sources under attorney supervision; pull relevant case law. Interact with outside contractors, partners or affiliates; support cross-departmental initiatives related to area of practice. Contract Management

Assist OGC in contract management and related workflows; proficient use of Moffitt\'s contract management system. Document Management

Assist OGC in document management (filing, pulling documents, updating agendas, indexing contracts, uploading documents, formatting) and use of OGC document management systems; prepare/edit operating procedures for day-to-day operations of OGC and suggest improvements. Additional Duties

Other duties as assigned by OGC leadership; participate in paralegal pool as assigned. Credentials And Qualifications

Position requires an Associate’s degree in Paralegal, Business or related field (Bachelor’s degree a plus) plus a minimum of two (2) years of paralegal experience. OR: In lieu of an Associate’s degree, a High School Diploma with an additional two (2) years of direct legal assistant/paralegal experience plus two (2) years of related experience for a total of four years may be considered.
