Taft is seeking a legal assistant to support the Public Finance team in our Albuquerque office. Strong candidates should have experience preparing complex documents, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build relationships with clients, attorneys, and staff.

Duties & Responsibilities

Edits and proofreads complex documents, proactively reviewing for discrepancies/inconsistencies.

Supports the billing process, including printing BIMs, preparing template bills, and finalizing and sending bills.

Performs administrative duties such as proofreading, editing, releasing attorney time entries, registering, calendaring, and reporting Continuing Legal Education credits.

Requests and follows up on reimbursements and related tasks.

Prepares and reviews letters and memoranda according to firm standards.

Prepares documents and exhibits for closing binders and transcripts.

Files and submits documents to state and federal entities.

Filing emails, documents, and all work product in the document management system.

Provides outstanding client service by greeting guests, scheduling meetings, and conducting telephone conferences.

Demonstrates strong attention to detail and proactivity.

Responds to requests with a sense of urgency, monitors deadlines, and prioritizes work.

Manages multiple priorities with flexibility.

Creates, maintains, and retires files in accordance with Taft’s Information Governance Policy.

Assists in managing client contacts, emails, print documents, and mail processing.

Communicates clearly, concisely, and professionally.

Requirements

2+ years’ legal assistant experience preferred.

Experience with transactional legal support preferred.

Proficient command of English language, syntax, and standard grammar rules.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

Excellent communication and writing skills.

Able to adapt to workplace stressors and competing priorities.

Must maintain confidentiality of client information.

Must exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

Must manage and monitor multiple projects effectively.
