Child Development and Education Coordinator Base pay range: $50,000 - $58,000 per year.

Location: St. Louis, MO

Employment Type: Full-Time – Monday–Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends.

Reports To: Senior Director of Early Childcare

Position Summary GASA seeks a passionate Child Development and Education Coordinator to lead daily operations of our Head Start program, oversee enrollment (ERSEA), and ensure quality early learning experiences for children. The role includes supervising staff, supporting inclusive classrooms, and guiding curriculum and development strategies in alignment with federal Head Start standards.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee classroom practices and child development outcomes

Support staff using Conscious Discipline techniques

Monitor lesson plans, assessments, and IEP/IFSP implementation

Coordinate services for children with disabilities

Supervise Teachers, Family Advocates, and Instructional Support Specialist

Lead recruitment and enrollment for Head Start program

Ensure accurate reporting in ChildPlus and ECE systems

Advocate for family engagement and well-being

Provide classroom adaptation guidance based on screenings, referrals, and parent input

Analyze classroom assessment data bi-weekly to drive outcome improvement

Oversee child goal tracking through IFSPs, IEPs, and Positive Guidance Plans

Ensure compliance with all Head Start standards related to child development and mental health

Coordinate disability services and inclusive practices; monitor developmental screenings and referrals

Facilitate IEP/IFSP development and meetings with families, teachers, and specialists

Maintain accurate data in ChildPlus and other systems related to disabilities, screenings, and services

Prepare required reports including PIR data and in‑kind documentation

Advocate for children and families using a relationship‑based, culturally responsive approach

Promote social‑emotional support and well‑being for children, coordinating with staff and families

Collaborate with internal teams and community partners to align services that support child development and family stability

Foster strong family engagement and communication as part of holistic support services

Qualifications

Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Work, or related field

Strong understanding of Head Start standards and early childhood best practices

Experience supervising teams and managing inclusive classroom environments

Familiarity with developmental screening tools and early intervention processes

Work Environment Office and classroom-based with regular site visits. Requires moderate physical activity (e.g., classroom engagement, light lifting up to 20 lbs) and local travel; collaboration across teams and community partners.
