Salary: Support Salary Scale Grade S06 – $21.23 per hour; starting
Essential Functions
Advise and support central and school staff on coordinate enrollment process.
Advise and support central and school staff on tuition processing.
Advise and support central and school staff on income verification procedures and documentation.
Maintain current and accurate personal and school‑related information on students via the student information system.
Provide proper enrollment forms and information to parents or student guardians.
Help coordinate student enrollment and withdrawal procedures.
Request student records from other schools and/or other departments.
Enter Maryland School Assessments (MSA) scores into the electronic student information system.
Process all student records from the electronic student information system / erase schedule.
Collect bubble sheets from teachers for interim report cards and check for accuracy.
Process or copy interim report cards and make needed corrections in the electronic student information system.
Print reports for Guidance Counselors using the electronic student data reporting system.
Make changes to student schedules using the electronic student information system.
Answer telephone, take messages, greet visitors, make appointments, and provide information.
Type and enter data for letters, schedules, reports, forms, and other materials.
Use automated purchasing system, student information system, and substitute calling system.
Maintain proficiency in the use of office technology to meet administrative needs.
Maintain filing systems, student records, attendance reports, logs, and field trip records.
Collect money for various school purposes and keep appropriate records of such funds.
Order and receive supplies and check invoices.
Assist in maintaining property accountability.
Assist in scheduling use of facility.
Compose routine correspondence.
Distribute mail and supplies.
Perform other duties consistent with the scope and nature of the position.
Required Qualifications Education and Training/Experience
High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
Three (3) years of clerical experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge and use of culturally responsive practices.
Demonstrated proficiency in business math.
Demonstrated proofreading skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively use word processing, database, spreadsheet, and email software.
Management and organizational skills enabling prioritization, working under time constraints, and demonstrating flexibility in an environment of multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
Ability to handle confidential and highly sensitive information in a professional manner.
Advanced oral and written communications.
Ability to build trust and maintain relationships.
Regular and predictable attendance.
Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, as needed.
Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation and on the telephone and when addressing groups.
Ability to travel to school and other local locations, as well as state meetings, sometimes with little notice.
Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
Ability to spend long hours sitting.
Ability to reach with hands and arms.
Sufficient manual dexterity to grasp, handle, manipulate, and/or feel objects and use office technology.
Sufficient mobility to move about the work area.
Sufficient vision to read and comprehend printed materials, see distant objects with clarity, and identify and distinguish objects.
Sufficient hearing to hear and comprehend conversations in person and on the telephone, and to distinguish sounds up to twenty (20) feet.
Occasionally climb or balance.
Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Occasionally lift fifteen (15) pounds.
Work Environment Moderate noise (examples: classroom and office environment with computers, printers, and telephones; regular conversations within offices, cubicles, hallways, and conference rooms; meetings one‑on‑one, in small groups, and large settings, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications Education and Training/Experience
Clerical experience in a public or private school setting.
Two (2) years of customer service experience.
Experience working with families whose primary language is not English.
Certification/License
None.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Preferred)
Bilingual skills.
Working knowledge of electronic student information and reporting software.
Willingness to undergo relevant training for position responsibilities, such as Title III assessment and pre‑enrollment training.
Familiarity with the FCPS policies, goals and programs.
Supports schools in planning and implementing enrollment events.
Attends community‑based events to inform the public about Pre‑K programming in Frederick County.
Ability to work some evening and weekend events within a flexible schedule.

Salary and Overtime Under the Fair Labor and Standards Act this position is non‑exempt from overtime. Actual salary placement will be in accordance with the salary procedures of the Frederick County Public School System. Please see the linked salary scale for the full range.
