The Team Leader provides guidance and support to the team members of the operation, supports the work area, and helps implement continuous improvement to meet and exceed customer expectations. The Team Leader guides an assigned group of hourly employees to achieve department goals and ensure quality and on-time delivery while maintaining a safe work environment. Responsibilities
Provide hands-on leadership through ongoing coaching and training of employees in the assigned work group Coach and teach team members to identify Value Added (VA) and Non-Value Added (NVA) activities and set goals to eliminate NVA Assist in initial and ongoing training of new employees entering the shift, including operating machines, understanding priorities, ensuring standard work and correct procedures, completing necessary paperwork, and updating information boards daily Provide coaching to associates to ensure policies and procedures are followed; escalate if coaching is ineffective Provide input in the evaluation and development of fellow team members Work with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance and other production supervisors to identify areas for improvement and problem solving Maintain open communication with team members to surface concerns or ideas to management in a timely manner Facilitate cross-training for team members Fill in for absent team members and provide coverage during continuous improvement activities Execute production schedule and maintain hour-by-hour chart Monitor and maintain supplies and materials; create work orders for maintenance as needed Attend department meetings to communicate customer requirements, scheduling, quality, and other operational details Address quality concerns or defects; conduct training sessions to raise awareness and resolve issues as needed Facilitate continuous improvement projects and maintain standard work Maintain a safe working environment and 6S (Safety and 5S) practices Participate in plant-wide safety activities, including incident reporting and follow-up on corrective actions Critical Competencies
Excellent work performance, reliability, dependability, including attendance and performance history Willingness and ability to work extended hours, including overtime and weekends as required Demonstrated leadership skills, including influencing others and mentoring team members Proficiency in technical competency in the assigned work area Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills Ability to identify and address root causes of problems Critical thinking and continuous improvement mindset; exposure to lean manufacturing is a plus Attention to detail and accuracy Strong work ethic, self-direction, and initiative Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills Positive attitude with willingness to listen and learn Proficiency with computers, MS Office, and SAP is desired Ability to multi-task Proficiency in English—effective verbal and written communication Education And Experience Requirements
A High School diploma or GED is required Certificate and/or AAS is preferred 2 or more years in the department for which the Team Lead will be responsible is preferred Physical Demand
Potential physical demands include continuous walking and prolonged standing up to 10 hours a day; regular twisting, stooping, carrying, handling, pushing, and pulling; occasional climbing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Potential sensory demands include hearing and seeing. Work Environment
Majority of time is spent in a manufacturing production environment with some climate-controlled areas. Personal protective equipment must be worn and safety precautions must be observed. Potential exposure may include solvents, dusts, lead, fiberglass, noise, heat, and cold. Regularly work with unguarded moving parts such as band saw blades, belt sander belts, and drill presses. To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicants should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government. Benefits
