Located in Calvert, 35 miles north of Mobile, Alabama, our state-of-the-art steel processing facility has the capacity to process 5.3 million tons of high-value steel grades in the North America market. In 2024, we achieved a Total Recordable Incident Rate 75% lower than the industry average for steel manufacturing.
We celebrated a significant milestone in 2024, reaching 8 million hours worked without a lost-time incident.

Responsibilities
Developing and maintaining an effective technical team responsible for cold mill process technology and development
Lead major improvement projects; improving process and product capabilities, throughput, cost (yield), energy and environmental performance
Provide technical support for all ACL team members, report process performance to Senior management, and manage/improve statistical systems that define product/process capabilities
Develop/improve inspection and testing methods, driving functionality and performance of process models/control systems
Demonstrate the company values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Relationships, and Sustainability
Fulfill the commitment to ensure a safe and healthy work environment
Fulfill the responsibilities required to achieve the Quality Commitment
Demonstrate commitment to teamwork by fostering an environment that embodies trust and respect
Qualifications
The Basics:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering: Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Materials or equivalent experience to demonstrate the command of the subject matter
Experience with the components of the ACL: an electric soaking annealing furnace, a forced water-cooling system, and an organic roll coating system
Knowledge of steel strip properties and applications
Demonstrated problem solving acumen
Demonstrated understanding of control systems, instrumentation, and process models
Strong work ethic that enables working through obstacles that are common in a green field project
The Extras:
Advanced skills in data analysis and statistics (design of experiments, data analysis and model formulation)
Leadership experience, such as leading projects, with awareness on group problem solving and influencing peer groups in a positive way
Traits to be Successful:
Demonstrates strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to develop technical presentations and competently communicate interpersonally and in technical papers
Competency in handling a fast-paced environment, strong organizational skills, multi-tasking, and prioritizing proficiency

Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to peak workloads
