Overview Polsinelli is seeking a Manager to work in Legal Department Operations in Kansas City, St Louis, Nashville, Atlanta, Denver, or Dallas. The Manager for the Legal Department Operations is responsible for working with Department Leadership across several legal departments and industries at Polsinelli, overseeing the daily business and operational functions that support the delivery of legal services. This role ensures that the department operates efficiently, strategically, and in alignment with organizational objectives. The role interfaces between legal departments and administrative support functions – including finance and accounting, HR, recruiting, etc. Responsibilities include supporting and facilitating daily operations for legal departments across administrative teams, driving short-term and long-term initiatives, budget management, and developing monthly and quarterly reporting to department and industry leadership.

The position requires analytical, detail-oriented work and the ability to balance competing priorities while facilitating collaboration across diverse groups toward results.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Department and Industry leadership to design, implement, and oversee procedures and workflows that enhance structure, efficiency, and operational management within the department.

Support the strategic planning process with the relevant department chair and practice leadership.

Develop a cadence for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting including progress against strategic plans and financial performance for the department to firm leadership.

Participate in and implement identified short-term and long-term operational and practice management initiatives of the legal department.

Support the department in onboarding, offboarding, and integration processes.

Maintain accurate operational metrics, dashboards, and reports to support strategic decision-making; support organizational hygiene, including planning, agenda preparation, action items, and minutes for department meetings and retreats.

Serve as a liaison between the legal department and other professional staff departments (e.g., professional development, training, HR) to ensure collaboration and broader support for the department and the legal operations team.

Collaborate as part of a geographically dispersed multidisciplinary team.

Establish and review project management cadence to provide updates and report findings to relevant groups.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree

5+ years of relevant experience in business, financial or operational analysis, consulting, or similar

Strong desire for a career as a non-lawyer in the legal industry

Developing understanding of general business and financial concepts; experience in the business of law is a plus

Interest and desire to learn skills necessary for supporting high performing client service teams and other teams within the firm

Ability to adapt quickly, transitioning between multiple tasks as workflow changes

Ability to own and deliver customized projects with autonomy; able to lead or support several projects simultaneously

Excellent written and verbal communication; careful attention to accuracy and diligence

Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with internal document management systems; knowledge of legal research tools (e.g., iManage) is preferred

The budgeted salary range for this position is $85,000 - $150,000 based on experience.
