BI, Analytics & AI Specialist

Job Summary: As a BI, Analytics & AI Specialist, you will partner with cross‑functional leaders to uncover, activate and optimise growth opportunities. You will transform raw energy market and customer data into strategic, automated insights that drive millions in revenue impact while democratizing data access across the organization through natural language querying, self‑service dashboards, bespoke analysis and machine learning. Key Accountabilities
Lead implementation of BI and AI‑enhanced initiatives that identify profitable growth opportunities and optimise portfolio performance across Vistra's retail energy and customer markets. Own end‑to‑end BI solution development utilising Python, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Excel and generative BI tools to build executive dashboards and operational reports. Translate complex energy usage, pricing and customer behaviour data into clear, actionable recommendations for Pricing, Portfolio Management, Finance, Marketing and Customer Experience teams. Conduct in‑depth descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analysis of portfolio performance and uncover root causes for trends in channel gains, customer lifecycle losses and transactional margin performance. Stay up‑to‑date with emerging BI technologies and industry best practices. Lead evaluation and implementation of AI‑enhanced BI platforms and generative analytics tools that enable natural language data exploration, automated insight surfacing and predictive recommendations. Provide thought leadership and mentorship, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation and collaboration. Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years (or Master's with 3+ years, or equivalent 8+ years) of professional experience in data analysis or a related field. Extensive experience analysing large volumes of data using Python, SQL, SAS, R and similar programming languages. Experience collaborating with data engineering and data science teams to define requirements, integrate ML model outputs into BI dashboards and navigate ambiguous business problems. Experience using Power BI or Tableau for data visualisation and building production dashboards for executive audiences. Exposure to generative BI platforms such as Power BI Copilot, Tableau Pulse or similar, including natural language query design and automated insight configuration. Web analytics experience with Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics or equivalent. Hands‑on experience designing and analysing A/B tests and multivariate experiments to optimise pricing strategies, marketing campaigns and customer experience initiatives. Solid understanding of financial modelling and investment analysis (ROI, CLV). Strategic thinker who balances analytical rigor with business pragmatism and excels in cross‑functional collaboration. Familiarity with AI/ML concepts applied to business analytics, including predictive modelling, supervised/unsupervised learning, feature engineering and model interpretation. Benefits
