The Program Manager has overall responsibility for the operation and success of 6 - 8 comprehensive after-school programs based in a K-12 school within the five boroughs. The Program Manager will be responsible for contract compliance, curriculum development, training, implementation of enrichment activities and theme based projects, recruitment of staff, scheduling of activities, daily supervision of Program Directors, record keeping and reporting and assist with the planning and organizing of special events and monitor budgeting. The Program Manager is the primary liaison between New York Edge and school principals, between Program Directors and New York Edge staff, and between Program Directors and funding sources. The Program Manager must embrace positive child and youth development principles and practices, including building on youth strengths, maintaining high expectations, fostering positive relationships, providing age-appropriate programming, engaging participants as partners, promoting positive identity formation and helping youth to develop their potential. The role requires respect for diverse cultures and communities and equal treatment of participants and staff. Programs typically run from 3-6pm during the week with opportunities across the five boroughs.
Responsibilities
Train Program Directors in recruitment, scheduling, staffing, program design, and Sports & Arts philosophy.
Provide crisis management.
Negotiate with Principals on space, staffing, activities, etc.
Liaison with Funders.
Speak to parents about incidents and general concerns.
Program Development & Evaluation.
Conduct periodic site visits and provide feedback to Program Directors.
Deliver qualitative assessments of all aspects of the programs.
Attend weekly meetings with Directors, other Program Managers, Office Personnel, Department Directors, Finance, Human Resources, Compliance, Data, Development and Communications.
Assist Program Directors with program design and evaluations.
Meet with Program Directors to establish quarterly goals and review overall program performance; assess and evaluate program quality through site visits and discussions with school administrators.
Assist site coordinators in developing age- and site-appropriate curricula.
Coordinate resources and service allocation (e.g., snack, security, fingerprinting).
Foster collaboration between after-school stakeholders to support program institutionalization.
Support Program Directors and staff in professional development to improve operations and programming.
Develop needs assessments within school communities and monitor implementation of strategies.
Administrative supervision and ensuring compliance with RoP and regulatory requirements.
Work with Program Directors, school principals and stakeholders to ensure compliance with DYCD, DOE, DOHMH regulations and evolving pandemic requirements.
Grants Management and Compliance
Travel to multiple NYC locations to meet contractual obligations.
Enforce policies to ensure grant compliance with DOE, DYCD, OCFS, DOH and other funding sources.
Monitor attendance and enrollment issues; oversee fiscal management including budgeting, expense approvals and reimbursements.
Develop fiscal strategies with the accounting department.
Review and approve quarterly reports; coordinate communications and program appraisals.
Maintain program files and documentation (DOH compliance); participate in grant reviews; provide qualitative data to shape policies and initiatives.

Required Skills

Ability to articulate outcomes and provide resources to Program Directors
Professional conduct and strong character; patient, creative, and collaborative
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required with preference in Education, Psychology, or Social Work
At least 18.0 credit hours in Education from an accredited college or university
Prior work experience in urban education, including supervisory experience
Teaching and after-school management experience preferred
All Program Directors must complete a mandatory 15-hour OCFS Health and Safety course within three months of employment
