Overview If you are looking to grow your career in Utilities Maintenance, Pinellas County Government will keep you on track. The Utilities Operations Specialist 3 is skilled in technical work involving specialized testing, maintenance, and repair of utilities systems equipment, lines, or devices. Employees in this class perform routine and preventive maintenance on a variety of utilities systems and devices. Duties may include supervising skilled and semi‑skilled employees, and work is performed in accordance with established procedures, but requires initiative and independent judgment.
Responsibilities
Lead person of a small to medium‑sized construction crew installing, maintaining and repairing water, sewer, and reclaimed apparatuses.
Perform and direct visual inspection of sewer lines.
Install clean‑outs and backflow devices.
Perform related work as assigned or required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and 3 years of skilled utilities field experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker endorsement upon hire.
Possession and maintenance of a valid Level 3 Water Distribution System Operator License obtained in accordance with Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 62‑602, Drinking Water and Domestic Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators upon hire.
Possession and maintenance of Temporary Traffic Control Certification within 9 months of employment.
Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
Candidate may be required to perform manual labor for extended periods occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
Desirable
Ability to operate medium to large excavating equipment.
Working knowledge of GIS mapping system for water, sewer, and reclaimed infrastructure.
