Job Description Summary The Optimization & CI Manager – Dist. will focus on process efficiencies and deliver cost savings to the NASC business. The Optimization Manager will enhance distribution center efficiency through deployment of lean methodologies via BDPS (BD Production System), coaching, and mentoring site associates on lean methodologies, and effective leadership of CI projects with exceptional data collection and visualization. To deliver value, the Optimization Manager will help identify, prioritize, and execute upon complex projects to increase efficiencies and accuracy of processes as well as reduce waste/damages. The Optimization & CI Manager will possess the expertise to select the best lean tools and techniques as required.
Responsibilities
Identify Process Improvements and cost savings opportunities in the DCs and enable other associates to do the same by educating them to see processes and identify waste and inefficiencies.
Scope and value the identified opportunities via mapping and measuring processes and establishing baseline metric.
Recommend prioritization of the opportunities to the site leader based the scope and value.
Lead execution of opportunities and/or coach others to lead the execution of selected opportunities by applying best in class project management principles and processes, including change management and successful adoption, to ensure they are executed effectively, on time and on budget.
Map and measure processes and evaluate current state v. proposed state.
Identify Process Improvements and cost savings opportunities outside of the DCs that impact the DCs and influence the applicable function and/or BU to take action and partner with them on that action.
Contribute to DC strategy relative to CI based on the site’s vision, trend analysis, capacity modeling, etc.
Partner with the CI team to share and/or adopt best practices from across all DCs.
Develop and coach BDPS as well as a tiered management system with NASC cross-functional teams at the DC and drive for consistent standards and processes.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, logistics, operations management or related degree, or 10 years relevant experience.
Certifications: Six sigma certifications required (or relevant experience). Lean Leader certification required (or relevant experience).
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a business operations, manufacturing or warehousing environment; minimum of 3 years of experience implementing change or continuous improvement; experience with Lean Deployment, developing standard processes, writing procedures, mentoring, and training groups of associates.
Knowledge: Distribution, manufacturing, project management, and engineering within a GMP medical device environment (preference, but not required). Process Validation for medical device manufacturing. Continuous Improvement / Lean methodologies. Strong project management expertise. Understanding of Integrated Business Process for critical functional areas: Operations/Mfg., Supply Chain, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Sales. Business Process expertise, with an understanding of Business Process Strategy. Knowledge of SAP system, or other ERP systems.
Abilities: Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver with excellence across a multi-shift operation; leading change through influence, earns credibility, and executes deliverables; hands‑on "go & see" mentality at point of change; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects; ability to work independently and influence associates at all levels; ability to lead cross‑functional projects with geographically diverse teams; strong analytical skills and a track record of problem resolution.
Travel
15-20% domestic.
