Job Description: Education Support Professional / Special Education
Location: Bamber Valley Elementary School Date Posted: 5/1/2025 Date Available: 08/19/2025 Closing Date: Until Filled Position Details:
Employee may need to provide services in home on an as-needed basis. Staff may be required to report in person to a school building on an as-needed basis. May monitor and/or supervise students in the lunchroom and on the playground in all weather conditions. Follow student Behavior Intervention Plans and Emergency Healthcare Plans. Provide support to students with personal cares (toileting, dressing, feeding) as needed. Ability to work with a wide variety of students with different disabilities. Observe and document students' academic and social behaviors. Maintain consistent and accurate data collection of student progress on goals and objectives. Provide feedback on student progress to classroom teachers and related services staff. Knowledge of using iPads and other devices for communication with non-verbal students. Support students with de-escalation techniques and use restrictive procedures as needed (training provided). Supervise students in various settings and locations in and around the school building, before, during, and after school hours. Move on and off the floor to meet students at their level. Provide support and supervision at meal times, recess, and on field trips. Model appropriate language and social behavior. Able to build strong relationships with children from all backgrounds and neuro-types. Maintain confidentiality and ensure effective communication with all staff. Exhibit good organizational skills and regular, on-time attendance. Minimum Requirements:
60 college semester credits and/or a two-year degree from an accredited college or university (include official transcripts with application). In lieu of college credits or degree, complete the Paraeducator Assessments with passing scores of 65% and 70% in Minnesota. High School diploma or GED required. Experience working with elementary age students preferred. Computer skills preferred. Flexibility and ability to work as a cooperative team member. Positive rapport with children and ability to correct inappropriate behavior with fairness and consistency. Belief that all students can attain high levels of learning. Responsibility for student learning and personal performance. Ability to build effective educational experiences that benefit all students. Functions effectively as a member of the educational team. Utilizes effective interpersonal skills and demonstrates integrity.
